Apropos of nothing in particular, I just recalled that the buffet on the cruise ship that my wife and I were on last May was on the 9th deck, all the way forward -- so naturally we called it Nine Forward! 🙂
Hello Ten Forward friends. My wife and I are celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary in April. I'm thinking that a good gift for us would be the remastered TNG complete series on Blu-ray. We have both the TOS complete series on DVD and the complete animated series on DVD. So. . . how is the remastering and what's the consensus on the set?
Okay, Mastodon friends: I uses to be able to see a list of people I'm following, but now I can't seem to find that list. Any suggestions? Thanks.
My wife, older son, and I saw Tron: Ares on Sunday and enjoyed it a lot! It maintains continuity with Tron and Tron: Legacy. The characters are compelling, and the acting is good. I was a bit nervous about Jared Leto, but he was rather charming in this film.
My older son and I have been rewatching the Star Trek movies this past week or so. We started with the latest remastered version of TMP on Blu-ray -- it looks and sounds fantastic! Two nights ago, we watched our older DVD of The Wrath of Khan and last night we watched The Search for Spock. I saw The Wrath of Khan something like eight times in the theater when it was first released and it never really gets old.
For those who celebrate: Happy Easter and Happy Passover.
Additionally, I found this great resource listing a lot of holiday for numerous faiths: https://chaplain.yale.edu/faith-communities-at-yale/multi-faith-calendar
For years now, Star Trek has been my comfort viewing. TOS, the Animated Series, TNG, DS9, and even Enterprise. Strange New Worlds is scratching that itch now and Lower Decks is simply brilliant!
What I love about those shows in particular is the optimism and humanity they express.
In dark times, I like to imagine a future like Star Trek's -- hopefully without a eugenics war having to come first.
Hi all! I lurk here a lot, but seldom post. I wanted everyone to know that I appreciate the posts here. I like the bridge display posts, Garak quotes, Lower Decks discussions, etc.
Anyway, I just picked up the Blu-ray of the newly (even more) remastered TMP, and it is glorious! That movie is among my absolute favorites -- one that I put on when I need an emotional uplift.
Now it looks even better.
