@jaffathecake We make a bunch of web games (https://pelicanparty.games/) and every once in a while we want to render some UI within the world as opposed to as an overlay. Right now the only way to do this is using a 2d canvas, but that's pretty painful to work with. Even something as simple as multi line text is very difficult to do without a third party library. Being able to style and layout the UI using regular CSS would be a complete game changer.

@jaffathecake Holy shitballs that slider at the bottom is cool! Can you still read pixels from the canvas, or does it get tainted? I've been looking for a way to include html content within webgl/webgpu games for so long.

@mysk@mastodon.social Tbf having to scroll all the way to the end on android isn't great either. Also quick tip: you can close multiple apps at once using multi touch, though I can't seem to close more than 4 at a time with a single gesture.

@jaffathecake I mean, I guess this could work for us, but there's still lots of situations where reading pixels is desirable. Such as allowing players to download screenshots, or auto adjusting expose based on brightness of a scene is also very common. So I'd rather avoid a tainted canvas where possible.

@wilander@mastodon.social This is great! And it comes just in time as I happen to need it for a project I'm currently working on. I do wonder though, why is this needed in the first place? Why not just partition cookies by default like we do with all other storage APIs? I can't think of any scenario where it would break existing sites.
