@siracusa if you buy the MacBook Neo instead of Mac Pro wheels you would save 100 bucks.

@atpfm@mastodon.social @siracusa@mastodon.social speaking of Jobs’ reluctance to go along with standard business convention, I remember talking with a senior McKinsey partner who met Steve Jobs once in 2005 or so. He introduced himself “I’m XXXXXXX from McKinsey, here’s my card”. Jobs looked at him and just said “I’m Steve Jobs, I don’t have a card”.

@tvaziri@mastodon.social if they remade Back to the Future today, and they went as far back in to the past as in the original, they would end up in 1996.

@mmasnick @nilay_patel they want to “maximize freedom” in the society, but you can’t do that for everybody. If they maximize freedom for Nazis they automatically reduce it for everybody who is not a Nazi. They need to ask themselves whose freedom they want to maximize.

Tested both computers using Handbrake. MBP was about 4 times faster. MBA started throttling towards the end, MBP was steady all the way through. MBP using the Low Power setting was about 60% faster than the MBA.
This should be enough computer for me for years to come. The MBA lasted me 5.5 years, limiting factor turned out to be the size of the SSD. Going from 256GB to 2Tb is… liberating.

@marcoarment in choosing to blame the strategic decisions made at the highest levels of the company, vs blaming the retail staff who are tasked with convincing buyers to actually buy the device, the chose to blame the latter.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io I’m in Finland where the yearly temperature goes from -25c to +30c (-13f to 86f). I use same temperature settings and auto AC all year round. Only setting I need to fiddle is defrosting and seat heaters, both which can be done before the drive.
Sure, everybody has different wants and needs. But at least for me that works fine, and having those settings in a screen wouldn’t be a big deal for me (my car is 2015 VW Golf, with physical controls.
