"Before you toot, ask yourself: Is it kind, is it necessary, is it true, does it improve the silence?"
Just read an interesting #AI article.

"Necessity is the mother of invention" the saying goes. Maybe we should reflect on the many nuanced meanings of necessity, it doesn't just mean that there is a need, necessity can suggest reduced resources (penury, poorness), and it is this kind of necessity that drove the PC revolution in the 80s.
It looks like the lack of necessity for the US tech concerns is causing a serious lack of innovation. They claim to be at the cutting edge, but with endless financial resources there seems no true pressure to innovate.
The Chinese are working from a "do more with less" position and combined with their investment in academia it seems to be paying off.
Restrictions on tech exports to #China is, I'd guess, likely only to increase innovation there.
Interesting times.

AI and the erosion of human trust.
I am noticing an interesting effect, namely that trust between colleagues and departments is being eroded by the practice of communication partners dumping all communications into LLMs.
The LLMs then act as a sort of partisan expert, undermining trust between communication partners.
For example, one Depts. LLM is used for Legal advice to challenge the Legal department's decisions or a Communication Department reinterprets IT's missive dealing with a technical problem.
And this isn't just interdepartmental communication, it is happening for interpersonal communication in a work environment too.
Fascinating.
With Immigration Tribunal Judges in England and Wales considering using Copilot to generate „Skeleton Judgements“, I Wonder how Long before there is an appeal on the grounds that the tool is only to be used for Entertainment purposes?
As a political manifesto, just doing stuff people need is considered radical....

The question appears to be; "Should humans be allowed to code?"
Hups, a new exchange Zero Day just dropped.
