Header image inlet of Salish Sea. A small rounded island looks black in grey water. Sunshine breaks heavy grey clouds. A contrast of dark & light. Foreground is the beach in silhouette. A thin stream is lit up silvery as it trickles into the sea.

In the forest out back the moody day and the eloquence of arbutus. The mist beguiles.
A river otter alone on the shore. They were looking spring frisky, rubbing their chin (glands?) onto rocks, grooming, grooming. Cautious, but unafraid of their human admirers.
Spring has arrived on the wet coast. The yellow-rumped warblers flitting among the earliest blossoms, looking for bugs. Birds can serve trees as pollinators and pest control. They're not just singing merrily for you. They are not singing for you at all. #saltynaturedoc
During the dark wet winters in #wsanecterritory #fungi still bloom, a ghostly note echoing from tree to tree. The quietest music to be heard. #wander #funghi #pilze #キノコ #forestwalk
You start a thing you need to see it thru to the end. Not absolutely--I don't live in a vacuum. Sometimes goals must be abandoned because of necessity. This is prudent. Most things I follow thru best I can. I planted baby oaks on the bluff last fall. Now they need water. As I trudged down the deer path in the dry heat I asked Why do I make more work for myself? I watered the babies. Good luck, I said. As I trudged back a commotion of small birds. There-- a young Great Horned Owl in the dapple.
Then a stray beam of sunlight broke through the forest canopy. Lit up the fungus for three glorious seconds. I could have wept. These long years, waiting, for this moment.

@venetiana@mastodon.art Awwww--thank you. 🥰 I am well! I hope you are too. I'm still pulled toward more to IG but I'm leaning towards leaving it completely--if so I'll post more frequently here? Sometimes I think I should leave all social media...
