Sara and Mica... trading Pokémon cards.
You thought we'd attack you with Heisenberg, haha! But we're full of surprises... (and that Heisenberg isn't finished yet), so... two characters for revenging against two characters! A ballpoint sketch done while we were out, so there may be some very small discrepancies from the refs (both Sara's and Mica's), but it shouldn't be anything serious, and we'll color-fix it anyway... because yes, we color it, and it should be finished today ;)

It should be noted that one of Seras Alkahest's favorite pastimes (she's the sea witch who arbitrarily decided to turn Sangreal, a fish, into a human, thus starting the whole Fish Don't Cry saga) is creating strange hybrid abominations, much to no one's surprise.
She has a whole host of little creatures that do various things for her, but mostly guard her lair! Here are some of her experiments. Or at least, concepts for them.

It's a depiction of Rosas, with Seras Alkahest's tentacles surrounding him.
Seras's tentacles are one of her most prominent features, the thing that most sticks in the minds of those who interact with her. And Seras herself, with her personality, is well represented by them, by the way she touches everything, holds everything, possesses everything.
The artist asks: "Just how interesting (dangerous) is it to be a favourite "Moray" of the Sea Witch Seras, I wonder? And should he be more worried about that than his next fashionable outfit?"
And the answer is… it depends. Is it worth living with anxiety over something you can't avoid? If Seras decided to harm him, transform him, discard him, or destroy him… what could Rosas do to defend himself?
Perhaps Rosas's "madness" is what allows him to enjoy what's happened to him, even though it's something absolutely dangerous. Those tentacles offering him food, beautiful clothes, and wonderful objects are a trap, but it's uncertain whether they'll one day close in on him and crush him.
And until then… as Nightwish say, "Beware the beast, but enjoy the feast he" (in this case, she) "offers."

Today's fanart, created for us by DoodleDeity, features our main boy (if you can call him that...), Sangreal, in all his length!
One of the most aesthetically interesting things about this character is the length of his body, this silver ribbon, streaked with charcoal lines, moving through the depths of the blue... and DoodleDeity did a great job portraying it. Look at those sinuous coils!
And who knows what he's contemplating, with this gaze turned upward... what awaits him in the light? Perhaps a young marine biologist (named Seraphin)?
Or maybe he doesn't want to go up there. Not again.
Sangreal has complicated feelings about the blinding light of the surface...

We just purchased a digital copy of "Sea Unseen", an absolutely gorgeous zine, which features a collection of illustrations of marine animals, from the smallest (and wonderfully complex) to the largest (and by "largest" we really mean).

Why did we do it? Not only, of course, for the incredible artistic value of this digital collection (we can't stop looking at it again and again), but also because the proceeds from the zine will go to the Australian Marine Conservation Society, an independent charity made up of a group of passionate scientists, educators and activists who have been defending Australia's oceans since 1965.
And then… we can proudly say this… two of the illustrations featured in the zine were created by us!
One depicts a really tiny animal: you may know it as a "sea monkey", or if you are an aquarium hobbyist as a "brine shrimp", but it is the Artemia salina, an incredible creature whose eggs can remain dormant, in the dry, under salt, for ages. Cool! And hey, they've even been in space.
Another illustration, however, shows an animal on the opposite end: extremely delicate and enormous, the longest bony fish on earth, the regalecus (Regalecus glesne), which has a somewhat special meaning for us, being very important to the series we're working on, Fish Don't Cry.

It's incredibly long! It's beautiful! And it's also incredibly complicated! We've probably never built a puppet as complicated as this one, but that's precisely what blew us away: the complexity and perfection of the details, all remembered and perfectly placed. We can't believe someone made something so beautiful for us!
Can we just say we love the way the face was drawn? It's absolutely perfect for Sangreal: his round, fish-like eyes, contrasting with his full, well-defined, and decidedly more "human" lips, are his trademark, that thing that gives him a slight "uncanny" that we love so much, and which has been captured so well here that we couldn't have done better. Even the nose, voluminous and aquiline, with a beautiful rounded, unbroken curve, is truly his.
It's perhaps one of the most precise and perfect pieces of Sangreal fan art we've ever received.
Sangreal must have certainly left a mark... and that's something we're incredibly proud of. Look at this bizarre fish guy!
And the best part is that now we can print it, put it together (will we be able to? We really hope so. For now, half of it is put together and attached to our fridge, we hope we can finish it all!) and have it with us always. A beautiful gift, in short, is what we received.

This is the first time anyone's drawn Seraphin Panorme on artfight! Of course, we understand he's less appealing than the other characters... among mermaids, tentacled monsters, sentient fish, and other bizarre creatures, Seraphin is just one type. In the story, his charm lies in the fact that he's perfectly human, but when it comes to standing out, placed in an exhibition of mythological creatures, he's the one left behind XD
And it's partly our fault, too, we admit. We don't do much content about him alone; usually the spotlight is on the fish he studies (and not only that ;))), Sangreal.
For this reason, we'd like to especially thank the-laridian for this drawing!
His little smile... his natural charm... we can say they were captured really well! The sunlight making his skin glow, the colors perfectly matched to the seascape, what we assume is his diving suit, a bright blue under the midday sun: it's a portrait that seems to have been cut from a scene full of life, and we really love that this was the first piece of Seraphin fanart we've ever received.
