@tisba@ruby.social I might be a pretentious poser, but not by _that_ much...

@mattb @FourT4 adjacent nihilism aside, that's one of the most challenging aspects of the job - kudos for being considerate and thoughtful

@jstepien@mastodon.social 🧑‍🍳 😗👌

@TheIdOfAlan@hachyderm.io @davatron5000@mastodon.social that's a very nice write-up; thank you (both) for sharing! out of curiosity (and because my own limited crypto expertise leaves me perennially, uhm, insecure): did you consciously decide against using the Web Crypto API¹? I've used that to similar effect², but remain uncertain whether that's really a good idea ¹ see https://prepitaph.org/articles/web-crypto-secrets/ for my own exploration ² https://prepitaph.org/articles/encrypted-web-documents/

@neuimneuland thank you, that's useful! it looks somewhat similar to my own approaches, but has details I was always uncertain about (like thresholds and offsets for swipe recognition)

@neuimneuland I've experimented with similar things myself and would love to take a look at your implementation, if possible (tuning gesture recognition is an art I don't trust myself with)

@mattb your submission will be noted

@mattb look, it's called progress; don't you see that's inevitable? plus if you don't accept this PR, you'll be responsible for tanking the world economy (I'm making assumptions)

@qunit@fosstodon.org @krinkle@fosstodon.org that looks very useful and clear to me! if this was an article and I was the editor, I'd only suggest reducing noise: IMHO you want to explain the concept more than executable code, so you don't need to spell out the complete function name here I've allowed myself to tweak your diagram in order to illustrate this, just as an approximation though: I'm not visually competent

@jakelazaroff@mastodon.social thank you very much for this admirable dissection of such despicable trash, and for being vocal about where you stand

@tisba@ruby.social I appreciate that even the most niche topic will gain recognition if there's a passing reference to Vim

@tisba@ruby.social 🤫 in actual reality, I had not realized right away that I also needed the description field, so the first iteration's JSON data was largely line-based already either way, I of course refuse to use jq because it was conceived after 1970
