If someone showed me those pictures back in the eighties I would have assumed in was a government office in Eastern Europe somewhere.

The people who show up to these things are largely party loyalists (in this case that would mean Trump Cultists) and the parties have a habit of heavily rigging these votes so a lot of people rightly wonder "why bother".
