Thank you to everyone who's supported us and contributed to this project to make it possible! We've been overwhelmed by the amount of love that's been poured into this film, and we feel a deep sense of responsibility to do it justice by sharing these lessons far and wide.

Has it really been two years since we last updated on this platform? Well here's our trailer!

Episode 1 of The Elements of Mutual Aid will finally drop on May Day this year.

Thank you to everyone who's supported this project in so many ways over the years. And thanks to everyone for waiting patiently for us to complete this love letter to the movement. We feel a deep responsibility to share this project within our values as far and wide as we can.

@eme@ayom.media it seems they just used the auto-translate feature on YouTube.

@eme@ayom.media There was a group that translated it into Portuguese for their own event! We'll see if they can give us the file.

@durian@social.acab.fans sick thanks for the heads up.

Though we had hoped to consult Klee for his insight while we edited the series, we’re now tasked with the responsibility of applying his wisdom and teachings as we carry forward in this work.

@thefinalstrawradio@chaos.social sending y’all a lotta love. Thanks for all your hard work every week! 💕🖤✊🏾🔥

This weekend we had the pleasure of doing a workshop on radical video production at the Powershift (@powershiftnet@beta.birdsite.live) conference in Bvlbancha (aka New Orleans).

We didn’t expect the room to be so packed with more than 50 people excited about visually documenting their stories and efforts. It gave us a lot of joy to hear all the amazing projects people are working on and thinking about.

We shared a little about the values that guide the camera work we’re doing on The Elements of Mutual Aid. Then we had a breakout session for folks to talk about ways to better support video production in their communities. Here’s a few of the topics folks discussed:

- Not letting a lack of professional equipment or experience hold projects back.
- Sharing resources/equipment and countering gatekeeping with a value for collective learning was also discussed.
- Recognizing the amount of labor that goes into video documentation and partnering with other people in your community with video making skills and equipment.
- Finding creative ways to access equipment from maker spaces and universities.

Here’s a couple photos of the zine we wrote for the workshop. We knew we weren’t going to get to a lot of the questions we find relevant to this work so we made the zine with the intention of folks continue these conversations with each other outside the workshop.

If you want to check it out, we’ve added a link to it below:

We’re excited to continue connecting to more folks thinking about creating more visual media in our movements!

All power to the people’s cinema!!

@another_katt@mastodon.social @igd_news@kolektiva.social thank you! The questions were great

@thefinalstrawradio@chaos.social it was a real sweet time chatting with you! Thanks for having us ✨🏴

So, who’s funding the Elements of Mutual Aid? As a grassroots project, most of the production costs have come out of pocket - and we’ve been supported by our communities along the way, too! Our fundraiser is in it’s final week, which means there’s only a few days left to grab a limited edition ACAB shirt.
