I have a tattoo that's in a comic book style that I would like turned into a line drawing. It's a relatively largish piece with a lot in it, but I don't think it'd be that technically difficult. I'm looking to #hire someone to do this for me as its beyond my meager capabilities and a different style from the kid's. Please reach out if you're interested in quoting cost.

#JustFinished The Word Exchange by Alena Graedon

Excellent pandemic/mystery/SciFi story connecting to the Gen Z zeitgeist of turning away from technology. And I wasn't even mad about the romance subplot this time! Just lovely writing.

#JustFinished Blood Over Brighthaven by M.L.Wong

I took two passes at this book. I DNFed it in the spring as it seemed like just another YA girl takes on the patriarchy, finds a more oppressed sidekick, they disrupt the status quo and fall in love book, which I am tired of. And it was, in the end. I did find a little bit that was interesting and different when I read it fully for book club. But it's a long way in before it breaks the mold at all. Good enough.

#TuesdayGame Went to fight some vampire spawn to help out the gf. We went in cocky. Oops! They swarmed over us, and probably thought they had the fighter until I hit him with a 112 point heal on the way out the door.

Maybe, though, just maybe, our wizard has learned he doesn't belong in melee. He's died before, though, so I could be wrong. For flavor, I slapped him with the revivify. "Get up!"

Both of our arcane casters have simulacri of themselves now, which is super helpful.

@SJohnRoss@dice.camp Oh, there probably is, but I don't know it. Heroic romantasy, maybe? Though, technically, this one can't be a romance, because spoilers.

#TuesdayGame We have no idea where to find the demigod we allowed to be loosed. Side quest time!

We're off to sort out what's going on with the vampire invasion in Paducah. Technically, we have a horse in the race as one of the vamp leaders is the gf of one of the PCs. I'm not so sure about her and neither is he, so we'll see where that goes.

Early indications are that the issue is a vampire conclave to decide the next 400ish year plan.

@Ashedryden@xoxo.zone So... I was having chest pains that probably were anxiety. BUT the anxiety was related to low vitamin D. As soon a my vitamin D levels went up, my anxiety and chest pains went away. My regular doc said "just anxiety." The cardiologist included a vitamin D screen with the other tests. I plan to have words with my PCP.

#TuesdayGame
What a night! We beat the final sub-boss and his cluster of hidden clerics, but it was a tough one! I died (again). But Pa had a magical hourglass that allowed him to sacrifice his life for me. Which was only right since he was the one who brought me back as an undead last time. He even said that! But then, because I got his HP, which were higher than mine before I died, I later survived a disintegrate spell, by the skin of my teeth. Now we're off to lick our wounds.

#JustFinished Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher

lf you haven't had the absolute pleasure of reading Kingfisher's fairy tales, start now. She does such a lovely job of turning the stories on their heads while keeping the otherworldliness. Highly recommended.

@ErikUden@mastodon.de Or perhaps it's a deliberate attempt to separate the brain from identity so that people don't start raising ethical concerns about human testing. It's an interesting to think about whether a brain without a body can still feel existential horror or even other, more base emotions. Personally, I have images of these brains experiencing psychotic episodes triggered by the drug testing. It doesn't seem pleasant. Also only turning on parts of the brain seems less than ideal testing.

#JustFinished Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor

Popcorn reading. Very enjoyable running around and screaming interspersed with moments of intelligent planning! So what if there was a contradiction in the basis? Will read the next.

@inkandashes@lgbtqia.space I did read A Memory Called Empire a few years back. I read it around the same time as another book with a similar premise and in the way my mind works, the two got tangled up. But because they weren't the same universe, I think I wasn't actually able to give it the read it deserved. It's been on my re-read list for a bit. Thanks for the reminder!

@inkandashes@lgbtqia.space I just finished up Those Beyond the Wall by Micaiah Johnson. Excellent, intense SF revolving around class war. Before that was Ammonite by Nicola Griffith. It's about 35 (yow!) years old. Deeply feminist anthropological SF. When I find sapphic historical romances, I tend to move them into daytime reading, because they're less formulaic, or at least more interesting, to me.

@inkandashes@lgbtqia.space Primarily SciFi, secondarily fantasy. With some non-fic thrown in from time to time. Often related to blah-blah month (Black History, Pride...) or mental health (focus on psychosis). And I fall asleep to historical romance at night, because I find them predictable enough to lull me. What are your faves?

#JustFinished Spiderlight by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Not his best, but well-done. I tend to prefer his SF works. I didn't feel this started all that well, but it grew on me. It read like a group of adventurers trying to figure out what the GM was throwing at them. Fun and interesting by the end, with good character growth.

#JustFinished The Book That Wouldn't Burn by Mark Lawrence

What an enjoyable story with depth and actual twists and well-placed hints. Two fully-realized, independent youths find each other exploring the Library. From there Lawrence surprised me with the direction of it and obvious care in the crafting of this story. He throws in some cute, cheeky references outside of the story without ruining it. Very well done!

#TuesdayGame We mostly farted around, prepping to go north to look for a wizard's tower we hear is hidden up there. Could be it belongs to the guy who kidnapped our minions and is still running around. Did some bastion turns; did some interior decorating; adopted another recurring NPC. This one is an old lady with dementia who thinks one of the PCs is her son. Makes for fun role-playing though, since he leans into it!

Well, for the first time, someone rolled a 20 on their save, and they were enraged! It didn't go well for them, because they were required to come straight for me. And had the run the gauntlet of our front line, who have 6 attacks of opportunity per round each! 😂 They didn't get within 15' of me.

@rauschma We were just talking about this idea last night... "Windows now ships with 32GB of RAM, so let's use 24GB for OS processes!" (yes, 24GB was made up, but the concept is there.) Also, I have noticed that my work phone (an iPhone) has been crappier since the last foolish update. I don't care about the pretty. I just want the damn things to work well.

#TuesdayGame Slow week. We did a bunch of bastion stuff and then launched on the next phase of the campaign. My character's friend, Naftali, asked us to come to her city to help out with some disappearances. By "some," she meant 5-10 a night! And no bodies.

After some research, we figured out it's an abomination. it doesn't look like a fun fight down the road...

#WednesdayGame

We're working on clearing out all the encounter spots on the map in order to get all the magic items we might need for the fight with the Giant army. Feels like grinding to me, but it's what the group wants to do. Many of them are video game players, so it may be that they're just used to it, where I'm not.

#WednesdayGame More grinding, but we found a map of the giant's ancient temples and figured our that we missed one. We've found artifacts at the other three so far, so we're definitely heading there! Other than that, we're basically just rolling over the competition, which has its fun. But it was more fun that we had to do some thinking tonight, at least for me.

Ja must have had like 10 or more crits tonight, though. Damn!

#TuesdayGame So, we found the aberrations from last week... turns out they were much larger than we thought, but we killed them right dead pretty quickly! Then we managed to track down the lair momma and the baby we killed were hanging out in, and splatted all the eggs and rescued the people who were being stored for food. Yay!

Then we kicked around ideas for what to do next. We're going to try to un-undead me. The GM told us we're missing something for the solution. Wah! 😞

#WednesdayGame Another kind of quiet night. We've moved on to the and of the module and still have no idea what we're supposed to do to beat this thing. We have all the maguffins we're supposed to have and unless the goal was just to keep them out of the giants' hands, we're stumped. We did come up with two possible plans to get where we had to be within the encampment though! at least our brains worked a little...
