The #CopernicusClimate Change Service (#C3S) & #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), implemented by ECMWF on behalf of the European Commission.
🌡️ Europe is the fastest‑warming continent, warming at more than 2× the global average. Changing weather patterns, reduced air pollution, declining snow cover & proximity to the rapidly warming Arctic all play a role. Dive into the full analysis in #ESOTC2025 from #Copernicus Climate @ECMWF@fediscience.org and WMO.
❄️ In 2025, much of Europe saw fewer snow days than average, while end‑of‑season snow cover extent was 31% below average and snow mass 45% below, both the 3rd lowest in 42 years.

The dataset is created by GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences.
March 2026 saw the second-warmest global sea surface temperature on record for the month. It was the fourth-warmest March globally & the second-warmest for European land. Arctic sea ice extent was the lowest recorded for March.

📈 In 2025, at least 95% of Europe saw above‑average temperatures. 📉 The area of Europe experiencing winter days with freezing temperatures is shrinking 🌡️ and the continent saw its second most severe heatwave on record.
