Good day, Mastodonians-
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, so here I am. I’m very lucky to live near a wildlife preserve and when I feel like my brain’s about to explode at the thought of what’s happening in the US, I go for a long walk at the Refuge. Always there, always calming, and yet always slightly unpredictable. It’s where I put myself back together.

Have been waiting for a signal from mother nature that Spring really is on the way. Well, I got that signal yesterday as I was out walking. Hundreds of Red Wing Blackbirds enjoying the sun and very high winds.

Sometimes you just stumble across something so mundane that on any other day you wouldn’t notice. Today I was struck by the colors of a simple kiwi and mandarin. Thank you, New Zealand and California.

Our friends in the southern hemisphere are heading into Spring, while we, here in the north, are reluctantly edging into the cold, dark months of winter. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything but since I share a birthday with MLK I thought now’s a good time to reach out. I have to say I’m going into this new year incredibly anxious about the future of the US as well as all free societies around the globe. With trump’s reign starting tomorrow, here’s a snippet of a recent post by Marc Elias, Democracy Docket: “We know the contours of how bad Trump 2.0 will be. Tomorrow we will get our first glimpse of the details. Expect them to be worse, in every respect, than you think possible. They will be both grander and pettier, more bone chilling and more outlandish”.
At least we know we’ll always have free ideas and free speech here in the Fediverse.
