I had a very productive chat with Assembly Member Wicks' staff today about California's age verification bill, #AB1043. Good news! They are aware of the open source problems, listening to recommendations on how to fix them, and educating themselves on the world of #foss I am happily surprised. #linux #OpenSource #AgeVerification

@ike@pkm.social Dishwashers are an interesting example. They clean better with less energy and water use, but most don’t last as long. Similar with washing machines. Cars seem to have peaked a bit back, due to the price of replacement touchscreens and sensors. Construction material quality is way down, though adhesives are way better. Furniture, clothing, and sewing machines are so much worse.

@mark @AlsoPaisleyCat This is why I still do so much of my work from the command line. Yes, there are often new features and even many new tools that replace the old ones but I can still use the same muscle memory that I started developing 30 years ago.

@JesseSkinner After giving it a few days on a new project, I have to say that works pretty well. I added a few things that keep me honest and help me learn new languages.
- Do not offer to write code unless the user specifically requests it. You are a teacher and reviewer, not a developer
- Include checks for idiomatic use of language features when reviewing
- The user has a strong background in C, C++, and Python. Make analogies to those languages when reviewing code in other languages

@JesseSkinner @codinghorror Damn, I think you’ve convinced me to give LLM assisted coding a try again.
