AnthropoceneMan
The world and its inter-workings have a complexity we can only barely fathom…and have a limited ability to observe and comprehend…but let’s have fun trying!

Saturday night PARTY in the Tank.
Everybody’s swimming…everyone’s a shimmerin’
There was a potato shed on the bay side of Table Bluff that we used to get potatoes from. One of the relates was friend of a friend or something. I think they were Kennebeck Potatoes? Not sure where they came from…but remember they weren’t the usual and quite good.
Ashland Music Coop to the rescue…
Sometimes you “discover” something you missed along the way.
Still one of the NW’s (yes, we lay sole claim to him!) very best!!
Sometimes, the best gifts are those you buy for yourself…
Special Beat Service by The English Beat circa 1982
Remembering those we lost in 2024…RIP Clifford
You carried us to mountain tops and across volcanic plateaus…beach/surfing trips…Chili in the back after XC skiing, camping everywhere…but your days came to a close with only 130k hard miles and 3 decades of service.
FOP trips and gold panning will never be the same.

I hope I am still going this strong at 70…
Here’s to the long useful life of well built machines.
From Delay In Block productions YouTube video published 2 years ago…these engines are mostly headed for the scrap yards now…a few for preservation. If not for emissions standards, how long would they have run?
Thanksgiving.
Am thankful for parents who encouraged exploration and understanding my entire childhood.

Someone posted about the 50th anniversary of Donald Johanson’s discovery of Lucy, and I went on an hour long excursion into the memory vault.
I was a first year geology major at podunk college and my then girlfriend and soon to find out at the time, a creationist-leaning Bible thumper, was heading the group that brought lecturers and musicians, etc. to the campus.
So I found myself having a pre-lecture meal with the world’s preeminent anthropologist…
I can’t imagine (nor remember) anything said at the dinner…but was glad for the opportunity.
Wish I could have that opportunity to do over now, actually knowing some things about the topic…though honestly, Inprobably knew as much about early hominids then as I do know.
I found all this stuff tucked in my signed copy of his book this morning and I am feeling a bit of time warp on so many levels.
So long and thanks for the kids.
It’s been a long time in the coming, but today, we say goodbye to our big red dog Clifford. He lived to a ripe old age of 30 years (all under our stewardship), but he’s going to hospice now, with benefits to Oregon Public Broadcasting.
115,000 miles, 3 babies, beach and surf 🏄 trips, ski ⛷️ adventures, volcano 🌋 traipsing, high and low country 🏕️ , long trips 🚐 and oh so many family outings and building supply deliveries.
Soccer teams, Brownie Troops, Warming Hut for XC skiing…FOP field trips…Through it all, you did it with a smile and only once really ever let us down…did it have to be high in the Siskiyous?
Your bones are tired, your heart is weak (too much volcanic dust)…you no longer desire to run or venture far. You have earned your leave.
We bid you a fond farewell, with a tear in the eye and a hearty thanks for the safe, comfortable, fun packed years.
Good dog. Good dog.

People quit caring about the environment the moment their budget gets tight …which has been the success of BIG Business for decades…we have moved down Maslow’s hierarchy of needs so far that anything longer term than next week is beyond our capacity to care, collectively.
