I just finished book 22 of the Animorphs series, "The Solution," and holy shit, that was fucking dark
Readin' Robbie
I'm Robbie, and I like reading! Well, I mostly listen to audiobooks and use text-to-speech on ebooks, but I still count that as reading. Anyway, this account is where I'll write about reading and books and stuff!
Main: @robbie@floss.social
@venetiana@mastodon.art Mine are heavily fantasy-leaning and more romance than I realized: Travis Baldree's Legends & Lattes series (retired adventurer opens a coffee shop) has been fun, and T. Kingfisher's The Saints of Steel series (paladins of a dead god find love) has surprised me!
On the less-romance side: Drew Hayes' Spells, Swords, & Stealth series (NPCs in a TTRPg world become heroes) and Jim Butcher's Dresden Files (long running American wizard detective series that feels like schlock but is fun)
I started archiving text content from a list of #Tumblr #folklore links into a Feather Wiki so I could read them without fear of the pages disappearing (some already have!). I still have a bit of work to do (better attributing work beyond linking to old URLs, improving styling, etc.), but I've got most of the stories copied if you want to read them too!

I also linked to some other stories I love online, and I'd love to add more if anyone wants to give me the links!
Oh no, I get why people don't like Ready Player One now
Oops, I kinda forgot I had this account! Hello again! Here's my StoryGraph profile:
I ordered some nice 12-hole ocarinas from STL Ocarinas (a mini soprano & full-sized tenor) on Friday, and I'm so fucking excited to get them! Absolutely nobody in my life knows I'm interested in/know how to play an ocarina except for my partner (who simply doesn't understand why I want more than 1 new one), so have nobody to tell!! I'm bursting and I don't have an outlet!!!
Favorite #Animorphs quote so far:
"That's why all these dogs are here," Jake said. "They're your. . . what, friends? Creators?"
"They are our joy," Erek said, "because they remind us of a world without evil."
—The Android (Animorphs Book 10) pg. 107
Well, I guess I'm reading the Animorphs books now.
I read a lot of books this year! Several of them were 5-stars for me too 😄
Happy New Year!
I just saw Death of a Unicorn and it's sooo good! Very gory, but it's an amazing horror comedy 💖 🦄
@Aaron_Davis@toot.cat It's not *that* bad, but I'm about 4 chapters in and the 80's references are already starting to grate on me. They're references that don't add anything, simply mentioning them for the sake of saying them like, practically worshipping the idea of 80's pop culture from the lens of 2010's idea of the 80's.
It all just feels forced and pointless even *with* the premise explained—like who are you really trying to impress by saying Pitfall is your favorite video game in the year 204X??
Back in high school, I read The Walking Drum by Louis L'Amour for our AP World History class, and it became one of my favorite books because of the sprawling adventure and interesting depictions of distant lands. But I knew there was an awful lot of gross sexism in it, so my present self has no idea if it was actually a good story or not.
I'm re-reading it now, and it already has me hooked on the pirate adventure vibes, and already it's been super casually sexist... So who knows how it'll be 😐
I just finished the third Animorphs book, and I'm honestly surprised the series was popular enough to get a TV series for kids. This shit is depressing!
@silverseams@artisan.chat The perpetual reality of Colorado between seasons 😭 Wind is my least favorite of all weather
