anyone else having a weird feeling about go (programming language) adding stuff like generics?
i always thought of go as "c with a runtime" and feel like the language shouldve just stayed at the point where it was when the book "the go programming language" was published.
im not much of a fan of "evolving" programming languages and would rather have them be designed and then not iterated on

@andrewrk@mastodon.social kind of i guess. look if it where up to me we wouldnt even live in capitalism so i think that just "mitigating" it isnt really a win. i however also admit that i do like cool stuff be that physical or conceptual (programming languages, operating systems etc) and i want to have ways to find out about said stuff

i would absolutetely go "all digital" if videogames where files which ran in an open source virtual machine and cant require internet connection to run.... until that is meet ill stay here with my cartridges, disc's and consoles with no internet connection

@diemkay@hachyderm.io i find it interesting that a weapon many ai-bro's and right wing techy's bring up is "that is a political decision" forgetting that open source and libre software ARE by definition political. it also reminds me of the situation in the rust community where a community member suggested anti ai guidelines and iirc got banned from the project. i can understand that projects want to be used in what ever tech is trendy atm but i feel like floss projects are trying to appeal to markets and industry too much in trying to get funding coding help or both
