#Trump designated #ANTIFA a domestic terrorist organization. The invention has proved more useful than a real organization, because a group without a membership list is one whose members the government simply gets to make up. The state no longer proves what you believe by what you did; it proves what you did by what you believe. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/trump-nspm-7-repression/

Texas A&M, an institution that purports to be a university, has told a philosophy professor he is forbidden from teaching Plato.

We're seeing fewer decent-paid jobs and the need for universal basic income as we install more machines that replace former high-level work https://www.conferencesthatwork.com/index.php/technology/2017/07/the-end-of-decent-paid-jobs-and-the-need-for-basic-income #BasicIncome #technology #AI #TippingPoint #PaidWork

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Suspect you're right about this being an age thing. I, an old guy, can do all of these things, though I have to swim a lap very slowly, floating on my back and kicking my feet.

Why should you hire curious people? Because the future of work belongs to the neo-generalist. And neo-generalists are intensely curious!

@grimalkina@mastodon.social, I have written a ton about the trend towards not paying or even reimbursing conference presenters. Fifteen years ago, it was normal for me to be paid my workshop fee plus expense reimbursement. These days, it's a rarity. Here's my latest post on the topic: "Compensating presenters and 'women’s work'". https://www.conferencesthatwork.com/index.php/event-professionals/2026/01/compensating-presenters/
