#zulip

Ok, as an alternative to Discord, Chatto (https://github.com/chattocorp/chatto) is looking rather promising.

• AGPL

• can be easily self hosted

• Paid hosting available in EU (better privacy protection)

• Written in Go

• mobile apps on roadmap

• web app is good on both mobile and desktop browsers

• one client can connect to multiple servers

I have a demo instance running on my homelab and I could see opening this up to my friends using tailscale funnels.

Update on the #FPIndia #Zulip migration - We now have a #Telegram <-> Zulip bridge! Zulip is quite a bit nicer and more welcoming than Telegram, so you should definitely join our Zulip instance, however telegram users will also not miss out on any discussions. https://zulip.functionalprogramming.in

The founder and three senior team members of Zulip are joining Anthropic: Tim Abbott, Alya Abbott, Greg Price, and Alex Vandiver And they are "donating the company" to a new non-profit #Zulip Foundation: with the first three above as the board (plus Josh Triplett) and "Interim President" Kim Vandiver (notice the same last name as the other person who's joining Anthropic) https://blog.zulip.com/2026/05/15/announcing-zulip-foundation/ via @mary_ext@wetdry.world
