First up we have Parliament Funkadelic live from The Summit in Houston, Texas in 1976 (https://youtu.be/r5aHD5ruSZ0?is=pp8KK86lCMqJWv8w) Sorry about the video quality. The audio and, of course, The vibes remain pretty immaculate to make up for it #MusComEnt #EarthWindAndFireDay #ParliamentFunkadelic #PFunk

Parliament Funkadelic began life as the 1950s New Jersey-based Doo-Wop group The Parliaments and their backing band who by the late 1960s became known as Funkadelic due to a legal dispute with their record label shortly after that they became the #PFunk we know today #MusComEnt #ParliamentFunkadelic

This performance features the P Funk Mothership AKA The Mothership AKA The Holy Mothership which is a space vehicle model belonging to Dr. Funkenstein AKA the honorable George Clinton. Originally just a conceptual element of their music it became a physical prop that was used in Parliament-Funkadelic live concerts from the 1970s into the 1990s. As of 2021 a replica resides in the Oakland Museum of California #MusComEnt #EarthWindAndFireDay #ParliamentFunkadelic #Afrofuturism #PFunk

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 by Prince. Parliament: Mothership Connection (Casablanca NBLP-7022, 1975) I will buy just about any P-Funk #vinyl I see regardless of condition but this one plays pretty nice despite looking gnarly. Music-wise, it does not get any better than mid-70s P-Funk and it’s preposterous how prolific this crew was throughout this decade. @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #Pfunk #parliament #GeorgeClinton

Parliament: Funkentelechy (Casablanca NBLP-7084, 1977) My favorite Parliament album and the clearest articulation of the P-Funk political message, i.e., shoot the unfunky with the bop gun and shine the flashlight on them to make them dance. It’s not subtle. It’s revolutionary. @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #parliament #GeorgeClinton #pfunk
