By the way, all four antihistamines seem to affect periods, PMS, and cycles, moods, hormones, and so on. That is, if my experience suggests anything at all about it. There are women who say that Zyrtec ( cetirizine ) made their PMS/PMDD better but I suspect that it may even make things worse for some women as well. YMMV I guess. #MCAD #MCAS

Anyways I hope there is information useful for anyone at all in the little narrative of my #MCAD #MCAS hell adventure.

I tried cetirizine, levoctirizine, famotidine to mitigate or at least moderate #MCAD symptoms. They immediately made me terribly ill. The bad side effects were the "rare", or "unknown occurrence" ones. They were effectively disabling effects.

I don't know what else to try, and besides, I have no desire to experiment and end up being as ill as the four I've tried made me, or worse. #MCAD #MCAS is unpleasant but the antihistamines used to treat it were even worse.

I will just have to wait out future flare-ups and hope they subside quickly on their own since the cure is worse. But now that I know that I am indeed susceptible to #MCAD #MCAS I need to find ways of avoiding flareups.

I also checked the excipients in the famotidine tablets and found talc. Talc is sometimes contaminated with asbestos. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to separate them and testing for asbestos is neither mandatory nor always done. There are safer substitutes but inertia keeps manufacturers from switching to them. Both products are Target branded, made in India. I have to remember to read labels thoroughly before paying for things. Allergies are no fun. #MCAD and #MCAS are no fun at all. Dodectuple-plus unfun. Or more.
