For those who struggle with #Paywalls on #news/scientific #articles:
Two websites which are indispensable:
https://periscope.corsfix.com/ - Periscope acts as a proxy which gets past news paywalls
https://sci-hub.su/ - Sci-hub. also found at .st, .ru, .red, and .box; acts as a frontend to access scientific articles
And then this browser extension, Bypass Paywalls Clean, which works quite well (updates a lot, though, so stay up to date):
https://gitflic.ru/project/magnolia1234/bypass-paywalls-chrome-clean (Chromium browsers)
https://gitflic.ru/project/magnolia1234/bypass-paywalls-firefox-clean (Firefox browsers)
ONLY trust these git repos to source the extension. Magnolia1234 is the original developer. The extensions were removed due to DMCA from the browser extension stores, and now there are many malicious copies. This one is safe, I use it myself, and have done so since before it was removed (so I know who is the real dev).
---
In addition, for other #media, like #books, #manga, or #movies, others:
https://fmhy.net/ - Free Media Hell Yeah! is an aggregator of sites to access #free media. All sites are safe so long as you have an adblocker.
https://annas-archive.gl/ - Anna's Archive. An aggregate site for books. Pulls from many sources (incl. Lib-gen and zlib)
https://cineby.sc/ - Cineby. Watch nearly anything free, no ads
I'll give #music next.

@veronica@explains.social Routinely people prove they have a very liberalized view of human rights where they ought only be given to 'the good people', and 'the bad people'—however defined—get none. Just the same shit here, "Everyone deserves privacy, unless youre one of the *bad people* who use Facebook or Windows".
These people only show their own face as people who are looking to justify exclusionary politics, and ultimately, as people who dont care about privacy/rights for anyone but themselves.

@xorlou@lgbtqia.space @oldladyplays@wargamers.social This cannot be reformed out. It is structural, and cultural (culture begets structures which replicate culture which produce more systems for it, etc). The modern nationstate, in kind, was born from heteronormative assumptions, and every state will act the same when inevitably put through the same instability that States inherently bring along with them, because "the state", as modernly conceived, is universally rooted in heteronormative assumptions.
The state will ALWAYS be an enemy to queerfolk. It may forget about us until crisis, but rest assured we are always painted a target when the time comes.

Its inevitable if we continue to use the state as our means of gubernatorial structuring. Relying on a centralized, hierarchical apparatus to govern, giving it authority over all, is necessarily antithetical to the goal of an equal and non-coercive/non-oppressive society.
The state can be defanged, of course, and this is whats gotten us civil rights, but any such reduction of power is ultimately a temporary one, and as we see, can often be undone without much issue. For the state to be "good", it must be ruled by good actors; the issue is that we cannot rely on good actors to rule, and often those who would theoretically be fit to aren't the ones seeking to, leaving us instead with the malactors. Lottery choice systems dont solve this either, as it just takes one person to upset the whole system. It doesnt matter the economic implement of the state either as regardless the economy can and will be utilized against the masses in order to maintain the strength and existence if the state—über alles.
This cycle has been occurring for millennia now. The way out is clear: it is a structural problem, so we need to change the structure. Instead of centralized and hierarchical, we need decentralized and horizontal, and based on mutual and and human need, not 'economics' as we've know it.

@xorlou@lgbtqia.space @oldladyplays@wargamers.social Enforcing heteronormativity means, through direct and indirect means, that there's more babies to groom (theyre very worried about birth decline, in any facet, due to the coming climate impacts they acknowledge behind closed doors, but reject openly), more men to groom into service, more control over the population, and a creation of a scapegoat to propagandize as "the problem" in order to not only distract, but maintain the hegemony of heteronormativity. The state, as its built and functions, NEEDS heteronormativity to function as it is. It has interwoven nearly all of its systems with it to such an extent that in the event of instability, it becomes one of the first things tightened—nearly always.
This is beyond the obvious effect of killing transgender people through lack of care leading to suicide. This is also a feature and intent, but its not the only one, and neither is scapegoating. They dont want their men to be anything but "men" so they can use them in their wars. They dont want their children to be independent because they are instrumental tools for political gain, and future laborers (and trans people tend to be less productive; this is likely due to 'overlapping' neurodivergence). They dont want people to be trans because it risks upending the board.
