Isolation is, as it were, pretotalitarian; its hallmark is impotence insofar as power always comes from men acting together; isolated men are powerless by definition.

- The verkeerscentrum.be RSS endpoint itself no longer exists. /rss, /rss.xml, /rss/news, /rss/nieuws all 301 back to the homepage; /feed returns 404. The page also no longer renders an #rsslink anchor. Verkeerscentrum simply doesn't publish an RSS feed anymore.

- It loaded http://www.verkeerscentrum.be/rss/ over plain HTTP; the MyTurtle template has been HTTPS for years, so every modern browser blocks it as mixed content.
- It proxied that feed through google.com/reader/public/javascript/feed/... — Google Reader was shut down on July 1, 2013.

TIL LanguageTool, a pretty decent German/European grammar checker, was acquired by Learneo (US) in 2023 (how did I miss that?)... https://www.learneo.com/news/learneo-inc-accelerates-ai-writing-innovation-with-languagetool-acquisition
I have been using it for years and quietly renewing it every year. Sigh.
Their Terms aren't too great. And why does everything EU ends up selling to the US?

@gup@mastodon.nl Yeah, I have no issues paying; but I paid for a European company (and because I didn't trust grammarly). Now that it's an SF company all that goes away

@olikami@mastodon.social ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I see no stars on the site, for some reason the previous (in mastodon) doesn't load, so I just see a link
