Because it's 2026, I resurrected my FirefoxOS-era meditation app: https://meditation.wrla.ch/ Now updated to use service workers and the modern wakelock API.
No JavaScript build system, no frameworks, no business model, no gamification, no courses. The only that's simpler is a stick of incense and a book of matches.

@adam_caudill @JesseSkinner @codinghorror Fwiw I enjoy reviewing code as well, but the big differences is that when I review another human's work, it's an opportunity for mentorship/up levelling as well as building shared understanding. I get none of that reviewing LLM output. AGENTS.md aside, every new session is a blank slate.

Wrote a bit more about my adventures in getting off Spotify. Spoiler: I got sick of not having a streaming service, so I created my own out of my venerable old Mozilla-issued Thinkpad w520. Jellyfin is pretty great!

@sbi Great thread! I've become somewhat convinced that a certain amount of overbuilding of renewables is inevitable in the energy transition (https://www.pv-magazine.com/2023/02/15/curtailment-is-not-the-enemy/) but this is an important piece of the puzzle.
Not sure if the available roles would be up your alley, but fwiw my current employer (DERs aka demand response) is hiring for some engineering positions: https://www.voltus.co/jobs -- primarily North America-based but we have some Europeans.

@evan I don't like to think anything's inevitable. I've been disillusioned with both for different reasons, but a turnaround is always possible. Still use Wikipedia heavily and Firefox as my primary browser.
TIL about pex, an interesting-looking tool for transplanting python virtualenvs across machines. Seems like a great alternative for some bespoke use cases that I have at $DAY_JOB (and maybe you do too, if you're reading this). The lightning talk from Twitter in 2014 makes me sorta sad and nostalgic, but it looks like project is still going strong:

@pamelafox@fosstodon.org Not going this year, but I did a sprint day in both 2024 (Flask) and 2025 (free threaded python). Felt like a reasonable balance and got to work closely with a lot of really nice people.
