Apologies for the issues currently impacting #MastodonAppUK - We're seeing a spike in database capacity requirements and are working to investigate and resolve the issue. We've already scaled up the DB by around 50GB following an earlier outage which has already been fully consumed. I'm working to get the site back up and running ASAP.

In terms of posts there isn't a lot you can do, we did setup a GoToSocial instance which is quite a bit different to Mastodon but is still federated on the same common protocols which does have some tools to allow post imports. I made a post here back in January highlighting some of the other options, I would recommend downloading your archives as you can use it to make the posts into a static site and possibly some other things in the future. https://mastodonapp.uk/@wild1145/115876598369960764

@auscandoc@universeodon.com @hswapnil@med-mastodon.com @ChristosArgyrop@med-mastodon.com This is indeed one of my accounts, my primary account is over at @wild1145@mastodonapp.uk but I do keep an eye on all of the accounts for each instance. I have tried a few ways to get hold of Nick since January and had sent instructions a while ago on how to transfer the domain but despite multiple e-mails, twitter DM's and tags for some reason he hasn't got back to me but does appear to be active on Twitter still so I'm not sure if it's because of a 3rd party site being used to make the posts so replies are not being seen or if he's just done with the Mastodon side of things. Obviously if he does respond and transfer the domain I can either migrate before the end of the month or if push comes to shove I can renew the hosting another month and migrate it next month but being 100% honest I'm not expecting a reply at this stage. To answer the question asked earlier in the thread about us vs mastodon.social for the most part the experience should be similar, we do still have our local and federated timelines enabled whereas they aren't enabled on .social, we have a larger character limit on posts instead of the 500 Character default, the only other noticeable difference is .social runs nightly / bleeding edge versions of Mastodon whereas we run the stable versions. As long as you're able to migrate your followers / following relationships to any Mastodon / Fedi instance before med-mastodon is shut down you should have a similar ish experience on most the big servers and we collaborate with a few of the big servers and the Mastodon team where we can / it's sensible for us to do so.

@mimarek@universeodon.com Hey, do you know if the VPN IP is IPv4 or IPv6? Sorry I didn't get a notification earlier for some reason when you sent this. We made a change earlier in the day to try to fix some issues and fix IPv6 support but I'm now thinking I might well have broken some things. If you're able to confirm if it's IPv4 or 6 that would be grand, I'm not sure why it would be regional though as we don't perform any geoblocking, only other thought is if the IP has been used for abuse / similar in the past and it's made it on to one of the threat lists we use but we can figure that out once I know if it's IPv4 or 6 :)

@mimarek@universeodon.com So sorry about this, we're still having some issues getting IPv6 to fully play nice, I think I've got it working again now so if you could try again and let me know if there are still issues.
