Played and worked with computers for the better part of four decades. I often make mistakes, and I like to think I can also make amends when they happen. All part of the human condition.

I believe both cats and dogs deserve our affection and admiration, each for their own unique traits. People are sort of like that as well, we're all in this together and with the exception of some truly horrible people in history I want to believe we are all trying our best to figure things out as we go.

Being a positive influence for my family, riding adventure motorcycles, cybersecurity, and programming things are among my greatest passions.

Generally speaking, I really got no f*ckin' clue, but I'm an optimist so I think I've got that going for me?

Not sure who needs to hear this. If you're going to use "AI" to review job applicants, then review your entire process and make certain that statements such as "we value your application", don't come across as tone-deaf transactional process that is simply checking boxes. Periodically sample why the AI is refusing applicants and perhaps have the AI share that insight with the applicant, consider it a way to help out a stranger and make any future applications worth your time. I fear a lot of companies that are in a leading position can't recognize the growing danger of allowing AI-HR tools to run the hiring process, and will soon find themselves in a business culture of clones that lack the sort of skills that make a company capable of managing the successes and the crisses that eventually arrive. #ai #hr #hiring

Google AI Overview says the global investment in artificial intelligence worldwide has exceeded $1.6 trillion. If someone handed me a fraction of that cash, I'm confident I could hire a group of hackers who could achieve headlines like, "Well Funded Hacker Group Hacked Things", and it would be no one’s surprise. Added bonus, no data centre and the same group of hackers likely has a variety of hobbies that are good for the economy!

In the United States, the generation that trumpets personal responsibility has run up a debt of $40 trillion dollars. I wouldn't be casting too much shade on those kids eating avocado toast, you old farts are going to be relying on those kids to bail you out! #politics #debt

Enabling "Summarize this email", in Outlook Web is roughly the equivalent of paying for Cole's Notes to avoid reading a novel in high school - sure you might pass the exam, but long-term you're not really learning much.

If you happen to be passing through Hope, British Columbia, you could do a lot worse than to drop in at Sharon’s Deli for breakfast or a sandwich and soup at lunch. #travel #britishcolumbia #hope

Replying to
@taylorparizo@infosec.exchange eyeballing fluent bit, but I have not taken the plunge. I’ve used Vector for Zeek and OpenSearch in development and it was quite solid.

Companies that accept a job application and subsequently put you on their mailing list for ads is tacky and unprofessional, however, it has begun to highlight for me what companies to stay away from so is this a win?

Soooo…you spend a few billion on research, data centres, electricity, and all it can do is write a program that mostly works. If I spent a few billion on people to look for bugs in old code, I’d probably have some success as well, I guess AI better start to “worry” about people taking away their…jobs? Please stop the hype and fantastic headlines, there’s some great things happening with MACHINE LEARNING, and it’s overshadowed by click bait.

My memory is terrible. I can't remember anything, I would forget my own name except my mom (who is awesome), wrote it on my underwear. I just wish my mom hadn't named me "SAXX".

How to detect the malicious use of AI at the border using Zeek? This is going to be hard I think. #AI #cybersecurity
