A German wanting to talk about things that are different in the UK and happy if someone from the UK will share their point of view.

Are you supposed to distribute all the tea in the pot in one go, so if someone wants more you have to brew a second one, even if you 're two people using one pot and you know one will have at least two cups? Would make sense, so it doesn't infuse for too long. This probably isn't a UK only topic, but I don't even know what a German packet of loose tea would recommend.

It is a great show to learn about traditional British bakes, for example a Bedfordshire Clanger, and vocabulary, most of which I won't ever use. But I can make a more informed choice now, if there is a selection of cakes to be found. We also used to watch an Extra Slice and Stand Up To Cancer , where I learned the names of certain celebrities, but we usually don't watch the cancer stories, because we have had enough of those in our lives.

Roundabouts Fortunately there aren't any really complicated roundabouts where we have to go to. I'm always glad that there are traffic lights on the more complicated ones and putting the road numbers on the lane to make sure you go the right way is also a great idea. Britain was famous for its roundabouts before Germany put them everywhere too, only here they are usually on small streets and you hardly ever have to deal with multiple lanes. I had to look up how to do roundabouts correctly. Indicate where you want to go when you enter the roundabout doesn't seem to make sense to me. When I want to turn right and I indicate when I enter the roundabout, how do people on the next exit know where I entered? Only then they would know if I want to leave now or in two exits. In Germany we don't indicate on entry, but right before the exit (if anyone ever does). I like the two lane system, one for people wanting to turn left and one for all the rest, that does make it easier.

a hard shoulder When we drove through England in a car there was the occasional sign of "no hard shoulder". We were wondering what it could possibly mean, but we always forgot to look it up. Finally I met some Brits with a car who I could ask and they explained to me that hard shoulder is what we call in German a Standstreifen - a lane for stopping. But also they couldn't explain why it would be called after body parts. Now I always envision some invisible head in the middle of the road to go with the shoulders. I assume other architectural structures, that have some kind of level parts in between slopes might also be called shoulder, but I was always too lazy to find out. And I probably wouldn't know that kind of vocabulary in German either.

doors Doors in the UK are different in many ways. When they're indoors they like to be right in the corner of a room and open away from the room. In Germany there is usually a closet sized gap between Wall and door so you can fit some furniture there, and the door will open into the room. The handles in the UK are usually a lot smaller, but from what I've seen they seem to be prettier and the doorknobs are also smaller, more like something I'd expect on a cupboard. The door handles are a lot higher up than what I'm used to and I always need to put extra brain power into finding out how the locks work. In Germany when you unlock a door and twist the key a bit further the latch will move and the door will open, so you can do it with one hand easily.
