@ryanmcshane@fosstodon.org @rstats@a.gup.pe I've been using R for academic purposes for around ten years but have never gotten around to learning... is there actually a difference between the <- and = operators? I've always gone with <- when assigning.

I use C++ and in that language, you can override operators, but unless you do that, things behave in a standard way. It seems risky for R to do this. I don't know though. I've only used the <- operator for the entire time I've used R.
