@_elena@mastodon.social There are many more companies, institutions, news outlets, YouTubers etc. there then here. For example, several EU institutions and politicians are pretty active there. So, I have a few lists and use it as sort of a reader to check the latest news and other information once or twice a day. Mastodon is where I follow and interact with real people, which is what I really enjoy here.

@ifixcoinops@retro.social I was so early to the game that I had to learn viewing the source code.of other sites. Many times I simply copied the code and modified it a little 🫣. That's how I learned basic HTML 😁. But, eventually, I started getting the emails. To be fair, I still get them 😛

The LoRa kits arrived early today 🤩, but I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to have some fun. My plan is to install Meshtastic on one and MeshCore on the other to test both networks.

Today I set up Syncthing on my Raspberry Pi. It was a massive pain to get everything done via command line, but now I’ve got a folder constantly syncing with my Mac and I’m already seeing endless possibilities 😁

No streaming here. I listen to great music on what I consider to be the best device ever to organize and enjoy a music collection. I recently bought a second used one on eBay, just in case I need spare parts to keep it running for as long as I’m around in this world.
Specs:
iPod Video (aka 5.5 gen).
New battery.
iFlash SD card adapter.
60 GB SD card for my full music library and a lot of room to spare.

I’m in the middle of an operation to import old Flickr photos to my blog, and that has brought back some interesting memories. Not only of the places, but of the entire process of snapping the photo and tuning it to a style I like.
When smartphone cameras started having image editing controls, I discovered this therapeutic process of changing small details here and there to create something like a specific filter for each image.

Hoje instalei o Syncthing no Raspberry Pi. Foi super trabalhoso fazer tudo via linha de comando, mas agora tenho uma pasta constantemente sincronizada com o meu Mac e já estou aqui tendo inúmeras ideias 😁

@ellane You just made my day. I grew up reading him, and we even exchanged some letters — I have them framed. It was very touching to know that there are still people talking about him ❤️
We went hiking this weekend, and when I saw this tree almost growing from its ashes, like a phoenix, I stayed there for a while admiring its perseverance.
I had already found that amazing, but a couple of meters ahead, there was an entire group of them doing the same. It was incredible to catch nature doing its thing in “real time”.

@jrt @EUCommission @HennaVirkkunen Having an active account as she has is great, but I agree about the missing links. Links have to be added to official websites, and the EU doesn't pay enough attention to that in the case of fediverse accounts. Furthermore, they should start making Twitter links less prominent on the official sites.

@pcora@mastodon.social Sorry for that. Here is it: https://amzn.to/4sRih2X
But keep in mind you don't need the kit. All you need is the board and the antena. You can even power the board with an USB-C charger or power bank. It's a much cheaper way to start. I just didn't want to deal with that now. But in the future, if I decide to add more devices to the mix, that's what I'll do 😉

@ellane Many are out of print, and I never found any of them in eBook format. I suspect there's something going on with the rights. But he was pretty famous in Brazil in his time, so there may be translations around. Maybe you'll find them in old bookstores. That's how I'm purchasing them again in Portuguese.

@ellane One more thing AI is destroying 😔. I love em dashes and have been using them since my teens, when learn about them. I recently wrote about this stupidity.

I was already impressed by the performance of #KOReader on my 2012 Kindle, but installing it on my Supernote was a game changer. Compared to every other ePub app I’ve tried — including the default #Supernote reader — this is proving to be the best by far.
As for the wine… well, it was just okay, but it definitely added to the overall reading experience 😉 https://vladcampos.com/2026/05/24/from-a-dead-kindle-rescue.html
I like to give cool names to my files, computers, external disks, etc. My MacBook Air has 500 GB of storage, but because of video editing and so much local stuff like photos, music, etc., I keep a 1 TB external SSD with me all the time.
The name I came up with for it a long time ago was “Extra Air.”
Every time I look for it and click on that name, I have this inward smile. When my eyes finally lock onto it on the Finder sidebar, ... https://vladcampos.com/2026/02/20/i-like-to-give-cool.html

@ellane He wrote several books, many of them a compilation of short stories that I suspect were inspired by things that happened in real life. In many of them he would use that quote. But there's one subtle detail missing there. It's more like "... it's not the end yet". And I see that "yet" as an important detail because it comes with a bit of optimism 😉. A word-by-word translation would be like, "In the end, everything works out; if it hasn't worked out yet, it's because it's not the end."

I have no idea what I did, but the emoji row disappeared from my phone keyboard. No worries; I’m Generation X, and neither my first internet experience nor my first mobile phones had emojis. They had emoticons. Well, if you know, you know ;-)
