Potato variety review: Currently eating my way through the 2025 potato harvest. I grew ‘Blackberry’ potatoes for the first time. Great yield of roundish, medium-sized tubers. These are the purplest potatoes I’ve ever used in the kitchen. Loaded with anthocyanins. Only OK roasted, since they are somewhat waxy. Quite nice boiled (tonight I seasoned with a harissa dressing). They have a strong potato flavor, especially when roasted. Recommend! #potatoes #cooking #gardening #PlantVariety

@DoomsdaysCW@kolektiva.social @MaQuest@mastodon.green I disagree with some of the recommendations in this article (and similar ones). There’s a lot of environmental variation in the Northern Hemisphere, so these seed starting guides won’t work well for many growers. In my area, I wouldn't start any brassica seeds before mid March. I wouldn’t start peppers or eggplants before the last week of March, since I wouldn’t transplant those until June. The plants will lose vigor if grown indoors too long.
Today’s the day for this Selenicereus

What books or articles can you recommend on establishing a hedgerow? I’m thinking a proper one that will stop large herbivores from going through or over. Thanks!
