#Software has become like #bureaucracy:
Nothing ever gets fixed.
But new rules, new features, keep getting accumulated. Until you drown in them.
That includes #FLOSS.

mastodon 4.8.0-nightly.2026-10-06I use mathematics to build algorithms, high-performance software, and R&D programmes—especially in optimisation, inverse problems, and scientific computing.
I am currently open to selected consulting and short-term collaborations, including technical writing, mentoring, and visiting positions.
I am particularly interested in work with scientific, social, or ecological impact—especially around livable, car-free cities.

@emilymbender@dair-community.social As the old joke goes:
-
If you're broke, you do statistics.
-
If you have a research grant, you do machine learning.
-
If you're a venture capitalist, you do #AI.
And given how the term “AI” has inflated like a third-world currency – what we have now does not merit the term, it's just “generative models” – one may add:
- If you're a Silicon Valley startup, you do #AGI.

@peter_mcmahan@mas.to @bluebells@tldr.nettime.org @tante@tldr.nettime.org I just checked what OpenAlex knows about me, and apparently I work for the Ministry of National Defense of the People's Republic of China.
I didn't know that. Although, the constant bureaucratic control and surveillance that I'm subject to in #Ecuador feels like the popular conception of China.
