When I was 40 I thought I knew how to walk. Then I started some Tai Chi classes.

I did not know how to walk.

It wasn't just the "Tai Chi gait" that I needed, I just needed to be more aware. The classes fell by the wayside, but some things did stick. I can honestly say that the classes have saved me from serious injuries when I trip or fall (which I do). You're probably sitting in your car wrong while driving too, I was.

Timely article for me as I'll soon be rehabilitating after some nasty surgery.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io I've been enjoying that arc. I don't follow much current opinion on the show because I know heads must be exploding by the "Trek ain't supposed to be woke" crowd. Good god people, there's a cadet from Charon (one side white, one side black for those who don't remember the planet name).

That episode was so freakin woke.

I wish these arcs/characters had been around when I was in high school in the 70s. I had some gay friends who would have really benefited from seeing Paul and Hugh as a living functioning accepted couple.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social I was already in the process of getting everything Microsoft dragged up to its cloud out. Dropbox is finally killed off, and as much of Google as I can, but they don't make it easy.

I'm joining the folk who #LeaveGitHub for alternative forges. I admit to mostly using it as an offsite backup service but I sometimes contribute. What are the viable new homes? I'm US based, long retired and a hobbyist, solo developer who doesn't mind paying reasonable fees for access.

Does anyone have recommendations or warnings re #GitLab #BitBucket #Codeberg #Sourcehut ?

Is there a #fossil SCM forge out there?

RE: @beyondmachines1@infosec.exchange

I could do this without AI by getting a coffee and explaining my problem to a coworker. No data center needed.

@carnage4life@mas.to I'm getting reviews of financial analysis for personal investing from someone I trust who says the model he's using is good -if- you know the material and know how to ask. So in that area he believes in 18 months white collar types in that field will be obsolete. He checks the results he gets, he's not trusting. I'd say there are "10x" models out there like there are devs, but the distribution almost certainly still skews left and not right. Unfortunately, "decision makers" think it's all "10x" :/

@_elena@mastodon.social Agreed. Bsky is a much less interactive experience than here on Mastodon/Fediverse. I follow a couple of authors, a few sports sites, and check general news there. But yeah, it's mostly a "read only" environment if you aren't "somebody." I will note that those two authors do read and respond to replies. I mostly consider Bluesky an "eMuskulated" Twitter and it seems to be replacing Twitter as a place mass media and "somebodies" go to post expecting that everyone is reading along.

Today's news pass looking for something not related to "he who shall not be named" turned up a story about Milla Jovovich being half of an AI related project. I'm waaaaaay behind on AI but I've held my nose to use it researching cancer pathology terminology. She designed an AI MemPalace as some sort of AI chat persistence tool.

Yep, LeeLoo Dallas Multipass has a repo on GitHub. Very new and 32k+ stars, 4k+ forks, 100+ pull requests. MillaJovovich / mempalace

Reminds me of Hedy Lamarr, IYKYK.

She's not dumb, and I never perceived her as just a pretty face with tolerable acting chops, but this? Mirabile visu!

There are a couple of news stories out so far, some pushback, and I've starred the repo myself.

@faltzuthewiz@eliitin-some.fi I was fortunate a few decades back to have a therapist (I struggled with major depression) who was the antithesis of "Dr" Phil and that faux optimism crowd. She helped me learn that there are "reasonable" depressions, angers, and even furies. She thought that some emotions must be experienced to be worked through. Very smart lady. Helped me greatly.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Mixed feelings here. This is more nuanced that Twitter. I left that because of Musk's hypocrisy more than his allowing junk on the platform, but I'm a free speech absolutist. I'll be watching my bsky account to see if I notice a change. Does moderation and tone bend in favor of any one side?
