I was a mere fetus, 57 years ago today. The Artemis moon mission last spring gave the echos of this moment in history.

The PG&E clusterfuck continues. They have a giant generator on a trailer that they've got connected directly into the grid. I'm guessing this is powering all the businesses on the south side of Market between Noe and Sanchez. They're down at least three different manholes that I can see and are currently digging out one of the poles on the corner of Market/Sanchez. the entire block of Sanchez is blocked off and full of various trucks. Can confirm that a couple of the workers are hot beardy boys. This, however, doesn't make up for the constant droning of the generator, the weird giant vacuum thing their using to suck up the debris caused by the jackhammer, nor the four diesel trucks idling in front of my window. I may just go crazy from the noise...

Any fellow word-nerds out there who can help me with a weird question about the word 'erection' for my research (trying to interpret a vague passage of an 1848 text)?:
Webster's 1828 limits the meaning of the word to edifices and buildings, with only the vaguest human meanings of "elevating the spirits" 😏
The OED, however, places the physiological meaning of the word from the 1590s, attested across various kinds of writing (newspapers, law/legal, ecclesiastical, etc.).
So my question is does anyone know if (North) American english specifically used the word in the sexual/physiological sense in the early 19th century? Would my writer have known exactly what he was doing in using the word as he did with its vague sexuality but plausibly not at all sexual meanings?

Anyone in in SFBA know if SFrent.net is a legitimate property manager? There’s something about the website that is pinging my scam suspicions but that could be that the rental scams are so bad on all the online rental sites …
ETA: they have a physical address (but so do other scammers) and Yelp reviews (also—but in this case they are bad reviews lol)
