@zzt on the last point: I think most fail to understand the difference between use value and exchange value. The use value of LLM output can be high, but the exchange value is practically zero since anyone with model access can reproduce it. This is also why I eschew the notion of successful enterprises built on LLM output: the fewer the people, the less effort involved to clone, the less value.

@david_chisnall funnily enough this sort of argument would be very familiar to Marxists, since the status of automation as commodity means productivity gains from automation are equally available to market participants, thus leaving labor as the main differentiator

@jplebreton he came up during the “end of history” period when deferring to nihilism and not taking a side was possible. His new position is a direct outcome of class interests formed during that era.

@jwz@mastodon.social your building probably needs to be repiped and the HOA is delaying for as long as possible to avoid large assessments

@jplebreton his advocated approach is basically how any Marxist would do things. A solid understanding of dialectics really helps in analyzing ideological framing.

@ska@social.treehouse.systems I really need to spin my own distro (with s6 as init) soon. The Faustian bargain of systemd has clearly not worked out.

@ifreund@hachyderm.io thank you for river. It is useful to me both as an application and source code to learn Zig from.

@technomancy @ieure @lhp @milagemayvary @fmasy @Khrys there is a clause requiring the signee to warrant being the sole copyright holder, at least in the papers I signed in 2024

@dotstdy@mastodon.social honestly shocked this could make it into a kind-of mainstream operating system kernel. It is so obviously wrong.
