Behold! My magnum opus! The inaugural blog post!
And... it's the fourth one to be posted?

Turns out, developing a bootloader on retail embedded hardware is more difficult than first imagined.

timschumi’s low-traffic blog

Low-Level Development on Retail Android Hardware - Reconnaissance and Prototyping a Bootloader

Many months ago, a slightly younger Tim thought that porting mainline Linux to his old Android phone for the purpose of experimentation would be a great way to pass time. (In hindsight it was, but not for the reasons imagined.)

PSA: Make sure to compile your performance-critical application with optimizations enabled before benchmarking it and being sad that it's slow.

Replying to
@kuulman @LineageOS Isn't, by definition, whatever app we ship with the system the "default"? Also, where did you see us using fossify apps?

@RealCarlos@social.tchncs.de @LineageOS@fosstodon.org Probably less of an active decision to remove it, more of a "nobody cared enough about the feature to add it back on the next major version".

@lumiscosity@treehouse.systems Not entirely sure what qualifies as monolithic or big, but I feel like LLVM (https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project) could be a worthy example.

They recently moved from a Phabricator instance to doing everything on GitHub natively, from looking over the contribution docs it seems like the only external part (which seems non-essential at that) are the forums (discourse.llvm.org).

@lordbowlich@hackers.town @thegibson@hackers.town @drakenblackknight@mastodon.online @calyxos@fosstodon.org @LineageOS@fosstodon.org Maybe the owners of a 30$ tracphone deserve it once they actually put in the work to make it happen.

@sslaia @LineageOS@fosstodon.org You could just donate 24.90€ and then use the LineageOS that is already downloadable from the website. It's going to be the same outcome (and we don't have to legally bother with actually selling stuff).
