I am excited beyond description to lift the veil on what we have been working on in 2026:

Please meet ggsql! A new extension of the SQL language for creating visualisations using the grammar of graphics. Read all about it in the blog post https://opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-04-20_ggsql_alpha_release/

ggsql has been created as a cross-team effort at @Posit@fosstodon.org between me, @gws@fosstodon.org and @teunbrand@fosstodon.org and while still in alpha, we are super proud at what it can already do.

Please take it for a spin — we'd love any feedback ❤️

Mastering typefaces and fonts in #rstats has always been harder than it should.

I have tried to collect much of my relevant knowledge in this deep-dive blog post so you can spend your time picking the right typeface instead of cursing at the computer

I'm excited to share the next version of patchwork with the world, available on CRAN now.

This release brings:
- First class support for gt tables, with table-specific layout and alignment options
- Even more freedom with `free()`. Choose which side to un-align, and select between 3 different un-alignment modes
