@bagder It's astonishing we live in a golden age of source code access to (most) dependencies and yet most companies will not manage their own dependencies by *at least* forking them into their own repos to keep a fixed version.
But nooooo, because it's ""too expensive"" / ""too much work"" we'd rather rely on the global package manager updated a thousand times per second where anything goes. And now you have half the internet going down because "color has been compromised"

@Mara@hachyderm.io The naming of "expect" was the worst offender for me. For the few times I use rust, I always forget how its called. I dont expect a function named expect to take an error message as input, but rather to evaluate a predicate on the object (think of 32.expect(is_even)). Naming it or_panic would make much more sense.

@tphinney@typo.social Don't know anything about how fonts were rendered before in Chrom{e|ium} : but isn't FreeType related to the HarfBuzz project ?
Also, what issues in FreeType were solved by Skrifa? Genuinely curious about it.
