I don't often do mono photography - but egrets and the sort of rainy day that obliterates most colour lend themselves well to it. Curious whether you lovely people like it or not - comments welcome! #birds #birdphotography #blackandwhite #monochromemarch

Mostly I'm going to post photos of birds, with the occasional other creature thrown in. Scenery and humans are a rarity. All photos my own and most taken in Perth or around Western Australia unless specified. #birds #photography #birdphotography #nature
Woodland Kingfisher. We could hear these guys calling to their mates at almost every bit of woodland adjacent to water, but they seldom came down to eye level. This pair was very agitated at the presence of a a large monitor snoozing in the bush and they came down to yell at it - and lucky for us - do a bit of displaying as well. #birds #birdphotography
Look at those FEET! Yet another bird that I just love to bits - African Jacana - shown here delicately tripping over the lilly pads. #birds #birdphotography
Amazing reflections on the salt lakes at Rottnest Island last weekend. Juvenile Pied Stilt #birds #birdphotography
To distract me from the endless task of editing my Africa photos - I went camping and came back with more photos to edit.....Here's one of a Splendid FairyWren going into its more "subtle" eclipse plumage.
I couldn't pick a favourite so I'm posting 4 pictures of these gorgeous Little Bee-eaters. The adult has the black collar and was still hunting for its child, even though said child was perfectly capable of catching it's own prey. #birds #birdphotography
A flock of Meyers Parrot is disturbed whilst foraging on the ground - giving me this lovely opportunity to get a photo of them all in flight at once #birds #birdphotography
When you spend almost 2 weeks unsuccessfully searching for a particular animal an image like this - the suspense of her emergence from the shadows, the partially obscured eye, the glints of hallelujah gold on her coat - all express the nature of the beast so much better than the "better" images where she is out in the open. It's so much more fun when you have to work for an experience. #leopard #naturephotography #wildlife
Super impressive on the ground, and remarkably ....... solid in flight. The Southern Ground Hornbill is not a bird you expect to see in the air but this one obliged nicely for us. #birds #birdphotography
Banded Stilts - a bird I've never managed to get close to before now. This time some judicious crawling through duck poo and a lot of luck got me right next to them.
LOL. The waterbuck thought I was taking its photo! Must not have seen my feed of endless bird photos#birds #birdphotography
It's call is even more beautiful than its picture - and a sound that is so evocative of the riverine habitats it is found in. Copper Tailed Coucal - Okavango Delta, Botswana. #birds #birdphotography
If you don't come back with a comedic picture of an oxpecker have you even been to Africa? These little birds are such characters - they alway look like they're wearing clown makeup. #birds #birdphotography
@copter_chief@mstdn.party It's not a bug - it's a feature. A terrorist attack in the USA gives them the opportunity to create an emergency state. Increase AI surveillance, further militarise cities - and possibly to cancel elections.
@oldguy52@techhub.social it is such a great joy to follow wild creatures through the stages of their lives - lucky you to find these!
