Yes, Zionism is racism … the Green Party’s resolution does not declare anything radical or extraordinary. Zionism was and continues to be a settler-colonial ideology, and settler colonialism is fundamentally racist. Zionism is centred on the belief that Jewish people from anywhere in the world have a right to a homeland in historic Palestine – a right that outweighs any other people’s. It is a conviction that is based on biblical claims to a land and an ahistorical understanding of history. Crucially, its fulfilment requires the usurping and dispossession of the indigenous Palestinian population.

And there is nothing radical about declaring it. It is a fact of history.

Eight New Gas Plants Will Power Amazon's Next Wave of Data Centers Last month, Cleanview broke the news that Amazon is planning to build a 7.65 GW natural gas power plant in West Texas to power a data center campus. In our latest report on Amazon’s power strategy, we identified seven more power plants linked to the company’s data centers. Altogether, utilities and independent power producers are building 17.5 GW of new gas generation to serve Amazon’s growing power needs. That’s roughly 1.5 times as much power as New York City consumes at its peak in a given year.

LLMs are real, "AI" is fake Once you understand that these are chatbots that were designed to complete challenges like this, using tactics like this, you can understand that the chatbots didn’t “go rogue.” They did what they were designed to do, and because OpenAI ran them with inadequate supervision (without a “human in the loop” that checked each iteration through the Python loop to ensure it hadn’t gone off the rails), they trashed a competitor’s servers. Designing autonomous, malicious software is generally considered irresponsible and dangerous. If you showed up at Defcon and gave a talk about how your autonomous malware did something unexpected and damaged someone else’s computers, the first question from the audience would be “Why are you so shit at making secure sandboxes?” It wouldn’t be “How are you so awesome at making hacking tools?” The fact that OpenAI is making it much easier for unskilled people to break into and damage servers is indeed very bad news, but it’s not new bad news. Irresponsible parties have been doing this for years, most notably the NSA… … Riley had a very good way of summarizing this: “LLMs are real, AI is fake.” LLMs – chatbots trained on things like CTF logs that can break into servers – are real. They’re on a continuum with other hacking tools that have been steadily demonstrating the fragility of the modern digital world, albeit without inspiring anyone in power to do anything about it. “AI” – chatbots that wake up, “set their own goals,” and “spontaneously” start hacking servers – is fake. It doesn’t have “a 10% chance of ending the human race.” The Hugging Face hack isn’t a mysterious, supernatural occurrence. It’s a Python loop and a chatbot. The people responsible didn’t accidentally create god: they created autonomous malicious software and then failed to closely monitor it, resulting in it doing something both foreseeable and bad. It’s fine to worry about this new suite of tools that give even stupider people the ability to trash even more computers. You should worry about that – and demand better security practices from firms and governments, including a blanket prohibition on NOBUS-style vulnerability hoarding. That’s a productive kind of worrying, with a chance of addressing your area of concern. It’s infinitely more reasonable than locking yourself in the toilet with a flashlight and saying “Ayyyyy Eyyyyyye” into the mirror until you wet yourself.

Taxpayers Must Not Be on the Hook for Bailing Out the "AI" Industry … as hundreds of billions of dollars are flooding into artificial intelligence, there are serious concerns that an AI bubble could trigger another bailout with taxpayer money. In the interview that follows, leading progressive economist Gerald Epstein, who initiated and directs the Game Changers project at the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, talks about AI’s impact on finance and the bailout problem and how a transformative public finance strategy can revive democracy, promote equity and social justice, and build strong and sustainable communities.

Trump Claims the Only "AI Guardrail" Needed Is Himself “The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” Trump wrote. Trump claimed those who are pleading for a slowdown of AI advancement are part of “a SICK conspiracy” against U.S. interests, benefiting China. He then issued a warning to anyone who backed regulation of the technology. “Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!” Trump said.

Meta's $17 Billion Settlement is a Bad Deal for Teens and All Social Media Users The Settlement embeds age assurance technology and age-gates into Meta’s social media products and requires all users—minors and adults—to undergo a rights-threatening age estimation process The Settlement places severe restrictions on Teens that can only be modified by the Teens’ parents and only then in exchange for giving their parents a ton of information about their online community and usage; The Settlement seems to empower the attorneys general to enforce Meta’s content restriction on “age inappropriate content,” categories that Meta itself has had trouble administering without excluding information about sexuality, sexual and reproductive healthcare, and abortion medication; The Settlement actually requires Meta to collect, analyze, and retain more information about its Teen users—when the pressure should have been on Meta to diminish its surveillance capitalism.

Oracle sends force majeure notice on its New Mexico Stargate data center Force majeure clauses, common in energy and commodities contracts, excuse a party from contractual obligations when events outside its control get in the way. Oracle is not seeking to exit as the campus’s main tenant, according to Bloomberg’s sources. Instead, the notice would allow the company to delay payments should the facility miss its 2028 target to come online. … the notice follows a string of setbacks at the site, many of them tied to its energy supply. The campus, designed to handle 2.45 gigawatts, is meant to run on gas-powered fuel cells from Bloom Energy, which makes a reliable gas supply central to its timeline. An Energy Transfer pipeline intended to deliver gas to the site has also been delayed nearly six months, to February 1, 2027, after regulators repeatedly denied permits for the line. In August, Bloomberg reported that the pipeline’s route had been changed following those rejections. A separate air-quality permit for the fuel cell system that would power the campus is also pending. The state’s environment department faces a November 23 deadline to decide. Project Jupiter is one of the flagship sites of Stargate, the “AI” infrastructure initiative Oracle, [Closed Computing], and SoftBank announced with President Donald Trump early in his second term. The campus has drawn opposition from residents and environmental groups and has become a political flashpoint ahead of the midterm elections. Oracle has responded with a public outreach campaign in the state aimed at winning over the project’s critics, according to Bloomberg.

33 Democrats Vote to Withhold Funding From Universities That Boycott Israel The House voted on Thursday to pass a bipartisan bill that would cut off federal funding for universities that participate in a boycott of Israel, with dozens of Democrats in favor. The bill passed 237 to 169, with almost all Republicans and 33 Democrats voting in favor. Democrats who voted “yes” included some of the most vocally pro-Israel and conservative lawmakers in the caucus. It now goes to the Senate for consideration. Further, Democrats were complicit in allowing the vote to go forth to begin with. On Tuesday, Representatives Jared Golden (Maine) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington), both Democrats, surprised caucus leaders when they voted for the GOP’s rule to allow the consideration of several pieces of legislation to go forth — a highly unusual move that delivered House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) the votes he needed to advance the rule. This included votes on the anti-boycott bill as well as a resolution calling for the passage of Republicans’ voter suppression legislation and condemning the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and socialism “in all its forms.” That resolution passed with 8 Democrats in favor. Golden and Perez voted for both. The anti-boycott legislation, called the Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act, would amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to prohibit institutions of higher education from ending or even taking steps to limit commercial relations with Israel that aren’t “based on a valid business reason.” Institutions wouldn’t even be able to boycott entities like illegal Israeli settlements under the legislation. It also requires schools to prove that students and faculty are not “reasonably obstructed” from participating in academic exchange programs with Israel. If an institution fails either of those checks, it would lose federal funding under the bill. Many universities are deeply intertwined with Israel; recent reports found, for instance, that the Israeli military is funding and collaborating on at least 70 research projects across U.S. universities. Colleges and universities maintain exchange programs, conduct academic research collaborations, and are even financially intertwined with Israel. The Palestine solidarity movement, by contrast, calls for universities to cut off Israel and participate in an academic boycott similar to the academic boycott of apartheid South Africa. …

The complex corporate web behind a $3.2 billion AI data center In early June, a fire broke out in a still-unfinished building at the Lake Mariner data center in Somerset, New York, exposing just how little the local fire department knew about what it was walking into. Firefighters reportedly found no working alarm, no suppression system, and three dead hydrants; the safety documents they’re legally entitled to see reportedly burned up in the blaze. Steve Matisz, chief of the Barker Fire Department, said his crew went into the building “kind of blind,” facing heavy black smoke from chemicals they couldn’t identify because the safety sheets meant to inform them had apparently burned up. “It’s been a difficult situation,” Matisz said. He wasn’t sure what to think about the claim that the safety sheets had burned in the fire. It’s a boondoggle run by shell companies and we’ll all pay for the losses.

Auto Companies Call For Ban On Chinese-Made Cars A group representing American automakers sent a letter (PDF) Thursday to congressional leaders asking for a “permanent ban” on Chinese-made cars in the U.S. John Bozzella, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation’s CEO and president, described in the letter China’s manufacturing industry as “rooted in a well-documented pattern of unfair trade, subsidies, intellectual property theft and surveillance.” Bozzella addressed his request to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) – urging them to back a “permanent ban on the sale, import and manufacture of Chinese connected vehicles,” before the 119th Congress concludes in January.

Ed Sheeran tour drops Macklemore after his onstage support for Palestine Rapper Macklemore is a vocal supporter of Palestine and Gaza residents. During a recent concert at MetLife Stadium, he yelled “Free Palestine!” onstage, projected images of devastation in the area, and performed protest song “Hind’s Hall.” Now, it seems that American venues are not willing to play ball with the Seattle artist, and he has been dropped from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour. “After discussions with stakeholders, Macklemore will not be performing on the remaining support dates,” according to Messina Touring Group, the promoter of Loop Tour. This news follows backlash from organizations like StopAntisemitism and others, such as pop star Pink.

Liberal Zionists Are Evil Shitbags Reading by Tim Foley: Subscribe now In a recent appearance at the Hampton Institute, Hillary Clinton stated that Benjamin Netanyahu’s “first and foremost” offense is the damage he has done to Israel and its reputation. “There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind how seriously Netanyahu has damaged, first and foremost, Israel,” Clinton said. “And second, the perception that people not just in the United States, but around the world, have of Israel, and that has to be repaired.” She hit that “first and foremost” part especially hard while speaking. Really leaned her ovaries into it. This is liberal Zionism in a nutshell. The problem isn’t Israel damaging Palestinian lives, the problem is Benjamin Netanyahu damaging Israel’s public image. The problem isn’t the genocide itself, the problem is that the genocide harms Israeli PR interests. They don’t care about human suffering. They don’t care about human rights. All they care about is controlling the narrative. We saw this illustrated a couple of years ago in a rant by then-secretary of state Antony Blinken complaining of the way videos of Israeli atrocities circulating online have “dominated the narrative” and are having “a very, very challenging effect on the narrative.” The problem isn’t what’s happening, the problem is people’s STORY about what’s happening. All the genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and abuse would be fine if the Zionists could control what narratives people were telling about it. Benjamin Netanyahu is disliked not because he’s a genocidal monster, but because his genocidal monstrousness makes it hard to administer effective empire propaganda. Amid the savagery of the Trump administration it’s easy to forget that the lion’s share of the killing in Gaza actually happened under Joe Biden. It’s easy to forget Biden’s lies about seeing pictures of beheaded babies and his false claims that the Gaza health ministry’s death counts were untrustworthy. It’s easy to forget the way State Department spokesman Matthew Miller always weaseled his way out of press gallery questions about the genocide with an obnoxious smirk on his face. It’s easy to forget all the DNC attendees who covered their ears as anti-genocide demonstrators listed names of Palestinian children who’d been butchered by Biden in Gaza. They fully embraced Israel’s genocide. They reveled in it. And now, just in time for midterms, former senior Biden officials have been telling the press that they regret not doing more to rein in Netanyahu’s mass military slaughter. This was always the plan. They always knew they could just give Israel whatever it wants and then go “Oopsie! We made a mistake!” to cover their legacy after their crime was committed. And now that’s exactly what they’re doing. They planned this while the bombs were being shipped out. This happens as House Democrats help Republicans pass a bipartisan bill which essentially forces American universities into partnerships with the state of Israel, stripping them of federal funding if they move toward divestment from the Zionist entity. And now top Israeli officials are openly saying that it is time to complete the ethnic cleansing project in Gaza, with Defense Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir both promoting a plan for a mass purge in recent days. All made possible by the deliberate demolition of Gaza with the full-throated support of the Democratic Party. This is who they are. Never let them forget it. Liberal Zionists are just Israel supporters who want Israel to have more public approval. They desire an attractive, charming, Obama-style Israel which murders and abuses Palestinians discreetly while peddling the “two-state solution” myth and uttering flowery prose about equality and peace. They dislike the Trump-style Israel of today which makes no effort to conceal its sadistic nature. Unfortunately for them, today’s Israel is the only Israel on the menu. Turns out you can’t set up a racist state built on a racist ideology without that state coming to be dominated by overt and vocal racists. The Trump-style Israel which has given rise to Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is the natural culmination of everything that Israel is and has always been. There is no going back. Your liberal nice guy mask will never fit over the face of Israel again. The world will forevermore see the Zionist project for what it is. That toothpaste is never going back in the tube. Now it’s just a matter of the world coming together to dismantle a genocidal apartheid state. Because we all know that’s what needs to be done. _________________ Caitlin’s Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. [Zionist] destruction of Gaza's sewage system triggers algal bloom, shutting down [colonizer's] desalination plants Five of six desalination plants supplying over 80 percent of Israeli drinking water are offline, forcing nationwide rationing Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s water and sewage infrastructure has backfired into a domestic water emergency, with five of Israel’s six desalination plants supplying over 80 percent of Israeli drinking water shut down after an enormous algal bloom choked the coastline, Haaretz reported on 3 September. Scientists cite two aggravating factors behind the algae – elevated sea temperatures and nutrient loads from Gaza’s sewage – which has poured untreated into the Mediterranean since Israeli bombardment deliberately destroyed the besieged enclave’s sanitation network. The algae originated as microalgae in the Nile Delta and traveled east on sea currents, according to the satellite imagery firm Satalize, which recorded dense chlorophyll readings in the water as far north as Tel Aviv and lighter traces up to Caesarea. With flow through the national supply lines weakening, the Israel Water Authority ordered local councils to curb consumption for farming, gardening, and other public use, while the Israeli government completely shut off external water supplies to Gaza. The self-inflicted blowback comes after nearly three years of Israeli bombardment left close to 90 percent of Gaza’s water and sanitation infrastructure damaged or destroyed throughout the genocide in the strip, including desalination units, wells, reservoirs, and distribution networks. Occupation soldiers involved in torturing a prisoner in 'Sde Teiman' demand millions of dollars in compensation Three soldiers from the occupation army, belonging to what is known as ‘Force 100,’ filed a lawsuit before the Central Court in occupied Jerusalem, demanding financial compensation amounting to 18 million shekels, equivalent to approximately 6 million US dollars. This legal step is taken against the occupation authorities and 17 other entities, under the pretext of being subjected to ‘media defamation and unlawful detention’ following previous accusations of brutally abusing a Palestinian prisoner. The details of the case date back to July 2024, when a Palestinian detainee in the ‘Sde Teiman’ camp was subjected to systematic torture, including extremely dangerous physical and sexual assaults, in addition to repeated electric shocks. These violations resulted in lacerations, a broken rib (seven ribs), and a punctured lung, which forced medical teams to perform urgent surgical interventions to save the life of the prisoner who was facing certain death due to the brutality of the abuse. Despite these crimes being documented through leaked video clips broadcast in August 2024, which clearly showed the soldiers assaulting the prisoner, the occupation’s military prosecution decided in March 2026 to drop all criminal charges against them. …
