Honestly this is worth re-tooting twice - yes in open source but also at your job. It's so demoralising when all the time I've spent getting PR reviews has built to me being able to give good PR reviews with the clear intent of helping and/or educating someone to become a better developer, or to learn the code culture of the project, in the hopes that for each time the comments will be fewer and fewer as you see the other person grow in their role.
Now you just make the same comments over and over, despite all the "memories" and "skills" and markdown instructions to a computer algorithm that doesn't care, doesn't listen, and you can't get the satisfaction of seeing them grow professionally.
It's just so damn disheartening
