It is telling how Democrats spend more time, money, and effort fighting against the tepidly left wing of their own party than they do against the fascist regime in power.
"The choice to film in a territory under foreign belligerent occupation has led to calls for a boycott from human rights groups, arguing that the film gives legitimacy to the Moroccan government’s ongoing violations of international law and mistreatment of the Indigenous Sahrawi population."

"Despite evidence that Pegasus software had been used to spy on activists, journalists, and opponents, [current governor of Sonora] Alfonso Durazo offered the malware — in his capacity as head of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) — to the administration of [then-Nuevo León governor] Jaime Rodríguez, 'El Bronco,' revealed Aldo Fasci, former secretary of security for Nuevo León during that state administration."
"[M]uch of the West Bank – particularly Nablus Governorate, but also Ramallah and towns stretching as far south as the Bethlehem Governorate – has been sealed off, forcing ambulance crews to navigate lengthy detours and prolonged checkpoint delays to reach hospitals."
"Dropping in the words 'naturalistic' and 'positive' has been leveraged as a gloss on what remains the core and damaging practices of ABA: conditioning the autistic behaviors out of autistic children by manipulating them into conforming with the expectations of non-autistic adults."

Historical question: One hundred or so years ago, how widely read were prominent anarchists such as Bakunin and Kropotkin? Was their work more broadly known and available?
Nowadays, to encounter and read Kropotkin you have to know what you're looking for. But back in the day, it seems like these thinkers could be found in a lot of libraries alongside Rousseau, Marx, Tolstoy, etc.
For example, I'm currently reading about how Práxedis Guerrero read Bakunin and Kropotkin on his hacienda in Guanajuato, long before becoming an anarchist. Same for Ricardo Flores Magón (sans hacienda). Today, to have read Kropotkin *before* becoming an anarchist strikes me as improbable.
"The Trump administration has begun arresting foreign citizens with expired U.S. visas as they travel through airports, including spouses of Americans, according to documents obtained by The New York Times and interviews with immigration lawyers — a tactic that opens up a vast new pool of people for deportation."
"A strike called in protest over the inclusion of Israel at the 2026 Venice Biennale meant several pavilions closed on the last day of the preview, some for a few hours while others – including the standout work from Austria – remained closed all day."
Only halfway through this book on Práxedis Guerrero. Unfortunately, it's not that good. But here are some of my favorite quotes from him thus far:
"I am not merchandise, I am an idea; and ideas are not bought, they are defended."
"There are things that you cannot kill and you cannot imprison."
"I am not a mere political enemy of General Díaz. I am an anarchist; I don't fight because I hate government, but for the love of a free humanity. Our revolution must show the manner of liberating and not of governing."
"The revolutionary phrase, when not accompanied by deeds, or followed by them, acquires the insensitive soporific monotony of Christian prayers."
"Since the Trump administration passed HR 1, more commonly known as the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' on July 4, 2025, EBT, known as CalFresh in California, is facing some of its largest funding cuts in U.S. history. Other changes include an increased budget of $85 billion for ICE, making it the single most funded federal law enforcement agency."

Some days just need to end with a solid '90s post-hardcore track.
"The Madres Buscadoras de Jalisco collective reported on social media the discovery of 28 bags containing human remains and bones in the Las Pintitas area, about six kilometers from Guadalajara International Airport.
"'While the world’s eyes are on Guadalajara Airport for the World Cup, just 6 km away, in Las Pintitas, pain springs from the earth: 28 bags containing human remains and bones,' they reported."
"I heard my sisters screaming as they awoke to the stench of smoke and burning walls, realizing what was unfolding."
Searching mother Patricia Negrete Tafoya was murdered on the night of June 23 in Guanajuato. She is the fifth searching mother to be killed this year.
