We are in a prolonged uphill battle to live by the rule of law. When a state refuses to comply with a Supreme Court order, when politicians and lawyers refuse to comply with subpoenas, when school committees cry foul if teachers teach factual history or books depict anything but White “Christian” culture, and when a governor speechifies that there is no proof of insurrection after umpty-ump conviction s for same, we have to hang onto our hats, for the winds of anarchy are strong.

I started out in academia then pivoted to a life that could include solitude, spiritual growth, connection with the natural world, and writing. I’ve published three memoirs: “Hello, Grace.”, Flying Point, and Time After Time. My blog, www.livingasequals.com, puts positive ideas and energy into the mad world of political and social commentary.
Researchers have long known that connecting to #nature is essential for our mental health. No wonder study after study shows that #nature is essential to every aspect of human life. We don’t do well hanging around totally in the human sphere, in dreary buildings with canned air, or in cityscapes devoid of #nature.

We have never seen anger in the public forum the way we are seeing it now with Trump’s diatribes against anyone that attempts to hold him accountable for his actions. His primitive anger has unleashed that same anger among the individuals in his base. We the people are caught between two unpleasant choices: participate in the emotional barbarism, or be forced to witness it ad nauseum.
I do wish that the people who post updates on the additional testimony taken and the new charges being considered for TFG would refrain from choosing any photo of TFG. I am so very sick of the images. They make me ill in the same way they made me ill during his tenure. I will never be able to stomach the sight of him. Please, folks. I beg you to choose images of voters, ballots, judges, the good people who stood their ground during it all.
#sourdoughbread became tiresome years ago. It has apparently become the modern baker’s answer to cost and time constraints, but it feels like the lazy person’s way out. Finding a non-sourdough bread among the whole grain fresh-baked breads is nearly impossible these days. I’ve grown completely averse to the smell and taste.
The (current) Republican Party is more afraid of single women than single men. More afraid of LGBTQA folk than pedophiles. More afraid of values such as altruism and compassion than the eye for an eye morality of tribes. In the view of most of us, that’s just plain backward.
To all the “But his age!” naysayers: We have a President who is everywhere all at once addressing the needs of this country, someone who is aware of the gravity of his role and the Consitution, an experienced politician who selected those who work with him on the basis of the depth of their knowledge and their commitment to a just society, a white man who embraces our collective diversity. Replace the embedded racist members of the Congress and Senate of all ages who do not do their jobs.
It’s like Musk is playing some 52 dimensional chess game of his own making: what will happen if I make this rocket/car/satellite? If I move Zuckerberg this way, Trump that way, Twitter over here, down there? If is say x or y, or z? As if he’s always just making moves and watching to see what happens.
