Loved that man. Having grown up watching him interview greats, my first appearance was impossibly thrilling for me. The genius of Parky was that unlike most people (and most of his guests, me included) he was always 100% himself. On camera and off. “Authentic” is the word I suppose. For one of the shows I was on with Robin Williams, a genius of unimaginable comic speed and brilliance. Now they’re both gone, damn it #parky
You know you’re in a truly individual country when the glass of grapefruit juice you help yourself to at the hotel breakfast bar turns out to be sauerkraut juice. Its healthful bacteria can fight it out with the kielbasa sausage I added to my confused tummy. Niech żyje Polska!
Awoken at 4:45 am by an insistent voice ordering all at the hotel to go down to the air raid shelter. So here we are. Someone showed me an app to download: as you can see, agrees with the order to stay sheltered. So here we all are down in the basement of the hotel. Coffee machine. Loungers. People laughing and chattering quite happily. No sound of drones or inbound missiles that I can detect…
