Home Assistant 2026.8 (beta) is out. New installs default to port 80 instead of :8123, "advanced" is removed from 40+ places in the UI, and Developer Tools is now just "Tools." Also new: custom entity ID formats, vibration + moon phase triggers, a searchable radio browser, and Energy Dashboard battery capacity. Stable lands August 5th. Water Your Garden Automatically NOW with Home Assistant!
Most people run Home Assistant in a bare container and miss the supervisor layer and app store entirely. I installed Home Assistant OS as a full VM on the UGREEN NAS DXP4800 GT (U.G.O.S. Pro) instead, with a USB Zigbee adapter passed straight through — real ZHA hardware, not a stripped-down install.

Same Home Assistant automations you already run on AWTRIX 3 — notifications, sensor apps, weather, rain forecast, calendar, to-do lists, countdown timer, moodlight — plus NG-only additions: stale-data warnings, animated weather overlays, named dismissible notifications, and full app rotation ordering.

Home Assistant 2026.7 beta is out — and the Automation Editor has been completely overhauled. Purpose-specific triggers let you build automations by area instead of entity ID. There's also a rebuilt Activity Logbook, a new "Update All" button, ZHA improvements, Dropbox backup support, and 10 new integrations. Final release: 1 July 2026.

I spent real time testing the Yarbo Lawn Mower Pro, an €8,000 modular robot mower with dual 300W motors, RTK-GPS + camera navigation, and a rated range of up to 6 acres. Yarbo doesn't officially support Home Assistant, but a community MQTT integration gets you battery status, GPS tracking, and automation blueprints locally.

SwitchBot sent over the Standing Circulator Fan and the Air Purifier Table for review — one moves air, one cleans it. I tested the modular height, the 28-hour battery, the HEPA filtration, and crucially, how each one actually behaves in Home Assistant. The fan's Bluetooth-only setup and the purifier's limited Matter entities are both worth knowing before you buy.
