Boomer from Hamilton , Ontario, Canada, and growing up it was probably 70% shoes ON in my parts...lots of kids, in and out constantly. Obviously, snow and mud were exceptions.
The 30% shoes OFF homes were the outliers...
It wasn't until my late teens that I started to notice a shift, personally and societally, to shoes OFF.
Nowadays, even if the host \*insists\* that I keep my shoes ON, it doesn't feel right, so I tend not to.
