My old (and written off by amazon) kindle has a new lease of life as an article reader. If I spot a web article I want to read I send it to an iphone shortcut which converts it to markdown and appends to a local file. I plug my kindle into my phone usb to mount as remote drive and it reformats that markdown to html which the kindle then adds as a "book". Kindle remains on airplane mode. Might write a longer post about how i did it if there's interest?
About last night.... the culmination of weeks of planning and hard work, but most importantly - fun!
Here's the engineering team that bought you the first Saturday Night Live UK 🙂
I’m probably preaching to the converted, but after dealing with a yet another unnecessary family broadband issue, here is my regular reminder that anything involving Virgin Media is abysmal.
If only I could invoice them for the time wasted trying to make a basic process work as intended.
In Television Centre reception, we have a tiny model of our building. I hope that in the tiny model's reception there's an even smaller model of the building. And inside that model there's an even smaller etc etc you get the idea!
More virgin media BS... having sorted out the rats nest of Mum's tv cabling, her tv box is now reporting this. It works, there's no need for this e-waste! I should charge virgin media for the amount of time I spend taking out perfectly functional boxes and replacing them with new boxes for elderly relatives 😡
Consumer tech is amazing. Until you put it on a properly secured VLAN and discover the Sky box needs permission to ping its own gateway to feel emotionally safe, while the Echo ignores DHCP issued DNS and runs off to Google like a feral toddler.
Hours of packet captures later, network is secure, devices are functional, and I’m bitter about my wasted day off.
Dipping my toe into the vast expansive pool of youtube... Broadcast Cart Machines... How Did They Work?

No one cares about comedy reviews apart from the reviewers themselves. How can you even review comedy when it's subjective? Everyone has different humour and that's how life works.
There was one review that headline caught my eye and I'm determined to make t-shirts out of it, to be distributed amongst the crew! 😂😝
I’ve a legitimate need to run a generator this weekend, so I filled two cans of petrol and topped up the car. The side-eye from the queue spilling onto the road to fill their own cars suggests cognitive dissonance is thriving.
Just jumping on the "how did outlook get so bad" bandwagon... this is a daily occurrence for me. Open browser to access outlook, outlook has auto-logged me out. Fair enough. Please enter your password, yup fine. Now your 6 digit authentication. Also good. Next page is a "please wait whilst we log you out" before i then have to repeat the same process again? why?
Today I'm doing my mandatory training courses. They are designed with adobe captivate. they don't display correctly on my macbook. some have audio but no video. Nothing in console suggests errors. I think i'm just missing out on some occasionally relevant clip art so I'm going to persevere!
The AI summary feature on my phone just abbreviated "reminder" to "remi". I'm sorry, what?
And again. What?!!!
Fascinating video if you enjoy a certain fizzy beverage! https://youtu.be/TDkH3EbWTYc?si=g-xeCQmSs7bQ8-Xq
Well that was a plot twist i wasn't prepared for!
