Является ли морально сомнительным поступком заныкать нужный товар в магазине в глубину полки, если его осталось пара штук, но ты не можешь забрать его сейчас и хочешь вернуться позднее?
На что не пойдёшь, чтобы купить правильный наполнитель для кошачьего туалета.

the destructive approach is intentional and is not just about speed of scanning but primarily to avoid copyright issues as scanning and destroying the original is less problematic and counts as "fair use" transformation rather than redistribution.

AI companies are specifically interested in rare books as these aren't in their data corpus already. Rare of course doesn't mean valuable but the chance to lose something forever is far greater. People would hardly object this approach with Harry Potter.
