@madhu_shrieks@mastinsaan.in I think you are mixing the two contexts.
Streaming killing ownership is in the context of everything becoming a subscription and thus encouraging rent-seeking behaviour. And, in fact, your example of "owning a few things" also carries an inherent opposition to such rent-seeking.
Put it this way, it's the difference between having a library at home vs a library you can pay a subscription to.
As it stands, you cannot build said library at home and that, IMHO, is a problem...
Humans won't be replaced because AI will start giving accurate answers ALL the time.
Humans will be replaced when AI learns to ask questions.
Humanity's biggest achievement isn't the ability to find answers. Humanity's biggest achievement is the ability to ask the right questions.
In the entirety of history, has there ever been a situation where citizens of 'conquered' countries have welcomed their "conquerors" with open arms?
🤔
(Just want to confirm something here...)
What are your thoughts on the topic of AI and sentience? Is AI sentient? Can it be sentient?
If it is sentient, how does that impact humanity in general?
If it is not sentient, is there a possibility it might gain sentience?
Just... humour me.
What is this nonsense I'm hearing about #Alphabet stock tanking because investors think AI-generated responses will kill their #Ads business??
Are you mad?
AI-generated ad summaries will 10x $GOOG's revenue from Ads!
Because Ads can (and will) now be indistinguishable from #AI responses, mark my words...
Spotted this question on Shitpost Lemmy.
And reading the answers got me curious. 👀
So, here we are: Which of these 5 forks in the image is the best fork?
NDs sought, NTs welcome. Honest answers, please! :)
@mikael@hachyderm.io Agree with all the points you have made. A few follow-up questions, if you will indulge me some more:
Re: real-world interaction. Is the unavailability of sensory inputs a (the only?) hurdle to sentience?
Re: the nervous system. Can an approximation be partially-achieved through simulated multi-modality? Kinda like a future-pilot learning on sims before taking to the skies?
Re: consequences. The current "training" also builds on consequences, right? Are those not applicable?
