mastodon 4.7.2

Hiya! I'm Ryn. I hope to start my Logic PhD in 2026, after completing my masters in non-distributive modal logic a few years ago. Currently working on my physical health, as I am not in a place physically to begin my PhD studies, unfortunately.

Interesting article.

I think it's also important to note that Terrence Tao is the co-founder of SAIR, an 'AI for science' and 'science for AI' focused non-profit, whose upcoming events are sponsored by Marc Andreesen's venture capital firm A16Z. Andreesen is, of course, a Trump-funding billionaire influential in the AI sphere.

I am in no way trying to imply that Tao has had his public statements swayed by this sponsorship, but rather that the interest shown in SAIR by venture capital is an indication that Tao's public statements on AI and its role in the future of mathematics are, at the very least, seen by AI billionaires as non-adversarial.

Who speaks for mathematics?

Can we help journalists choose?

@JordiGH@mathstodon.xyz True, although I think some of the jargon is shared across MOBAs? I could be entirely wrong tho! I just know of some basic terms like "mid", " carry", and "lane". I've been following FGC happenings since the early 2010s, and so fighting game jargon isn't as alien to me, whereas I have no experience with MOBAs whatsoever.
