My adventures today involve digging into some AppleDouble files in FTK and realising that perhaps we do want to be keeping the macOS file metadata for born-digi archives. Oh my poor little brain and Windows-centric workflows.

I've been thinking a bit more about the Logic Pro collection I've been working on and future access considerations... Has anyone else been thinking about how to deal with these proprietary formats that rely on software that we can't preserve? Or the migration of package formats? 😬 Or are these files destined to be the bones of digital archaeology in the future?
What is the most basic way you've heard metadata described for the general public? It needs to be simpler than "data about data"...
Just experienced an unpleasant reminder about why you should always save your documents. I was preparing my part of a staff talk on iPres 2025 and lost my second draft. I have started to rely a bit too heavily on my autosave (which is set to 10 minutes) but Word crashed and that's several hours of work gone. Silly. And ironic!
On a related note, how are people going about preserving apple package formats/project folders? Putting them together in an IE? Zipping them? Other...?
Today's focus is a collection with Logic Pro project folders and working out exactly whether I need to retain temp, dummy and hidden marker files or not. Sincerely hoping a colleague has Logic Pro so that I can test this...😬
