It's now been 30 minutes since #github marked the incident on https://www.githubstatus.com/ as resolved, but the site is still serving 503's for about half of all requests. Are there actually any engineers left working at that division of Microsoft, or did they replace them all with shitty LLMs and additional salespeople?

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange I've been trying to pitch this at work since I started -- everyone else uses LLM generated cover art for the company blog (even though the text is all human-written) and I just make mine in Inkscape; nobody believes me that potential readers will be turned off by the obvious AI slop. One of my hopes for 2026 is that Business Thought Leaders realize that slop is a turn-off.
Bus ride in today was on a little city bus instead of a coach. The only open seat was next to a middle aged dude who was sitting in the aisle seat but manspreading over both. When I nudged him, he let me sit down in the window seat and the proceeded to squish into me for the whole 30 minute ride, which he spent watching Fox News in PiP while he scrolled Twitter and painstakingly liked every one of the (many) bikini-clad thirst traps in his feed. On his headphones he was listening to something called "Yacht Rock HD Part 1".

I made sirloin kabobs, bell peppers, and zucchini-chickpea fritters for dinner and both of my kids (5 yo and 18 mo) ate all of it. I think they've been replaced by space aliens.

The latest Oaklandside podcast really fell flat for me. In a city like #Oakland with thousands of people living on the street, a hundred-million dollar gap in school funding, and endemic poverty, it's awfully hard to care about "historic" buildings (from the 19th century, so only barely out of living memory) and public investment in maintaining some dead rich guy's estate...

Should it be a thunk that gets called at function call time? Something else? Does the answer change for const fn versus fn? What is in scope when it's evaluated?
